And all that's fine.

Then he just needs to be honest with himself (and ideally, others) that his goal is NOT being in the best spot to win a SB but to maximize his earnings.

That's the interesting part.  How much would he pay to increase his odds at a SB by, say...10 percent each of the next three seasons? 5 percent?

Who are we say if he is honest with himself or not? We are not in his head. What we are hearing is just rumours. Similar rumours to 'he won't play in the Super Bowl if the Covid restrictions remain for unvaxed players etc. No one in the media has directly asked him how much he wants. All we got is Pat texting him are the $50m  per year rumours true and he said no.

This was like last year where all offseason we are hearing Rodgers won't report he wants to be the highest paid, he wants to be the GM etc. Actually he was very reasonable, he wanted a year taken off his deal and he wanted Cobb, and he wanted the front office to talk to him. Nothing compared to what the media was spinning out.

On top of that, what's in his head might actually be he want to move to another city, have that experience,  be in a city that also has a better team with no cap issues for the next few years.  A team where he doesn't have to take a discount where he can maximising earnings and have a shot at winning a Super Bowl, the two desires are not mutually exclusive.

To be fair, that applies to the vast majority of the roster. They are all multi millionaires and don't need any more money.  You can say the same thing to pretty much anyone.

The reality is its both. Their goal is winning a super bowl but they want to be paid as well. The problem with the void years thing is the likes of Rodgers and co know its possible. They know they can be paid 50m without ruining the team because it can be paid on credit.

The void years thing is setting a dangerous precedent.

Rodgers and Z are the dominos, Jaire will save much less than both of them.

Was speaking in terms of Rodgers not getting done and still possibly traded. Z would have to happen, and everyone expects it, so would Preston. Jaire's got to get a new deal in order for us to tag Adams.

There would be other moves as well, but Jaire has to be extended first.

The Packers have used their two past plays to kick cash down the road and are still 30M over the cap and will need to cut former Pro Bowlers to get under.

Packer fan: See I told you this cap thing is no big deal; they can sign everybody if they want to.

Lol, that's not what I was getting at.

I love Ken's work but his analysis always reeks of massive impending doom and I just don't ever see it that way with the salary cap.

Could be an announcement coming.

Could be a "advertising tease".

Is Allbright the same person who tweeted that Rodgers trade to Denver on draft night last year was imminent, or was that a different beat writer craving attention?

Think there were a few people but Schlereth was the one saying a trade was done or something close to that.
