Chiefs acquired CB Kendall Fuller and a 2018 third-round pick from the Redskins in exchange for QB Alex Smith.

So since this trade is not technically official until the start of the league year in early March, should it be processed for TCMD?

Tech the draft isnt till the new league year....and FA...

TCMD has to have the rosters lock in the next week to get the workbooks finalized.

So guess that takes the tag and trade of cousins out the window in WAS IRL...haha

The odds of the tag in trade happening irl had a .5% chance of happening.  Too many things needed to happen.  Once Cousins was tagged that kind of money, he would be crazy not to sit on that for a year and cash in for another huge contract in the free agency the following year.  So any team willing to trade for him wouldn't be able to extend his contract because Cousins wouldn't agree to it and why would he?  35 million guaranteed either by the skins or another team no way would I agree to a long term deal.

WAS could still tag Cousins, but teams could leave them hanging with Cousins at $35M and an extension for Smith at a big cap number as well.   The tag and trade was never a very likely thing.   There is a reason that it has not happened in the NFL in almost 10 years.

Absolutely.   Cousins gains some leverage in just playing on the tag at $35M and being a UFA the following season and going where he wants vs only via a trade.  Other teams also save the draft pick/player compensation on a player that they are having to pay a huge amount in cap space to.

Also, the Giants number 2 pick is on the block for those teams needing a quality quarterback for a cheap price.

And the limits of this being a 1 year event with no long term ramifications past that 1 year.

That is a reason why so few tag and trades happen in the NFL....GM's are thinking about more than 1 year vs TCMD which is really a 1 year event with no long term concepts.

Unless @ny92jefferis made TCMD like a Dynasty league type league mock. Same GM's same rosters from the year before.

I think it would depend on what otc is displaying at the time.  Would need to figure out the details of the contract.  But knowing its a done deal it would be hard not to include it.

Redskins signed QB Alex Smith to a four-year, $94 million extension through 2022.

He gets $71 million guaranteed.

Sounds like they guaranteed first 3 years of deal (2019, 2020, 2021) at 23.5M per year with a $500K roster  bonus in 2019?
