Let's do some non-Dingo grades for R1

1.1 - Hawaii - Barkley: A - no brainer

1.2 - Seoul - Chubb: B+ - I gambled and took my #3 player hoping Rosen would fall and that I could trade up again later in the 1st. Gambled missed. Still a solid pick I believe, despite the trade up

1.3 - OKC - Rosen: A+ - I think Rosen is a special talent and Cam has had up and down years recently. I applaud Whicker for doing this. Great pick

1.4 - Wichita - Nelson: B - PR did everything right as he tried to trade down and didn't receive enough value so went BPA and filled a need. Just not a fan of having a guard at #4 and speding 14K on two guards, but PR was in a tough situation

1.5 - Camden - Ward: A - Nothing to say here, Ward was #6 on my BB and filled a need.

1.6 - Lousiana - Darnold: D - I'm not a fan of Sam, I think he's the 5th QB of this class. Plus the sweet spot of this draft was, imho, the back half of the 2nd and 3rd so spending 2 2nd for Darnold was not ideal for me. I understand why Lukic did it, just not a fan of the player

1.7 - Berlin - Edmuns: B+ - I prefer Roquan, hence the B+ but solid pick nonetheless

1.8 - Gotham - Fitzpatrick: A - I had Fitz as the #5 player overall and I think pheltz was smart to jump in front of Orlando to grab him.

1.9 - Cuba - James: B - I liked that Cuba traded up in the top 10 as there was, imho, a clear separation between the top 11 prospects and the rest. Not a huge fan of the value though as I think I got an almost similar deal for 1.2. I just don"t think they should have selected James because I had Roquan ranked higer and filling a bigger need. Solid pick nonetheless

1.10 - LB - Vea: A- - Same story than Cuba without the trade up.

1.11 - Hawaii - Smith: A+ - hockey waited patiently and got a great player at solid value. Well done for a first draft.

1.12 - Louisiana - Allen: C - It was the right range for Allen and the value was fair. I just don't like that Lukic traded up twice to get a QBotF. Plus, contrary to the NFL, there is no shortage of franchise QBs in BDL so you don't get the same value when you trade them away, which he will have to do if both pan out. Still, I prefer Allen to Darnold, so a C

1.13 - Hawaii - Landry: D- - Ouch. Trade value was fine, though I think there is a fine line between the 14th and 31st best prospects this year. Problem is I don't like Landry very much. He has lots of potential but I don't see more than an ok pass rush specialist here.

1.14 - Louisiana - Jackson: B- - Another fine trade up. Not a lot of value given to jump eight picks. Though, once again, I think there was always going to be solid corners available at 2.6. I think Jackson turns out fine; I had better corners available but it's not a bad pick by any means.

1.15 - Berlin - Guice: C- - Nothing against Guice, who may become a solid RB, but I don't like that Rags traded 2 high 3rd to select a RB in the 1st round.

1.16 - Rome - LVE: A- - I had better players available at 16 but not many. Solid pick by bcb

I don't have problems taking the lumps on this one. I liked Landry as a player and knew he wouldn't be around by the third round. I decided if i was moving back into the second from 3.1 I might as well pay the cost to get the extra year on his contract too. If it's a miss it's a miss but I really like Landry's upside.
