What happened? They moved the event so JJ could still fight after testing positive again?

What's said is, he had very small trace amounts of the steroid he tested positive for two years ago in his system in a recent drug test. Supposedly not enough to say he was necessarily on it, but Nevada State Athletic Commission were not comfortable licensing him to fight. So they changed it to Cali, who gave him a drug test, which came up clean, and agreed to license him.

So the UFC is uprooting an event less than a week before it was scheduled to take place, just to accommodate Jones. pretty crazy. and that's if the story is true.

LMAO this is crazy.

SO this is the same metabolite in his system from 2017. The trace amount tested by USADA and CSAC have said he has not ingested any new substance but it is whats left over from that testing in 2017. NSAC will not license him because of this until he can go before a review board. USADA and CSAC are not pushing the issue and will have him good to go in Cali. And for the record Foster might be the best State Athletic Commisioner in the business and is light years ahead of NSAC.

Well nothing is easy with Jones on the card that is for sure.

this happened to Allonzo Trier in college basketball last year. Basically the exact same thing. Tested positive for trace amounts of something the year before and again last year, they made him sit out until it was to a super minuscule % tho, which took a couple of weeks. I believed it then so sure, we'll go with it.

I thought Jones and the UFC story was he had a very small amount of it in his system the first time he failed the test? If that’s the case how did he test for it again.

Yes, now it is even smaller. It used to be 'a pinch of salt in an Olympic sized swimming pool' and now it is 'if you broke a piece of salt into 50 million pieces, it would be 17 of those'.

The only thing is I don't know how much is a significant amount to affect performance. Is two pinches of salt the difference?

And it didn’t come up on any of the other tests he has taken recently? Lol. Such a cheat.

Jon Jones is a piece of garbage regardless.  They are uprooting an entire card because of him.  Imagine the fighters who had family that were coming to Vegas.....nope...sorry...d bag jones is still not 100% clean...what a pos.  Hope gustuffson beats his arse....or at the very least...inflicts a lot of damage like the first fight.

also tom lawler got suspended for 2 years for testing positive at a level less than half of what JJ tested positive for this time (but it was a different substance)

It’s also kinda important to note that the testing for turinabal has gotten basically exponentially better over the last two and a half years. When Mir popped originally, it was the beginning of being able to see it at extremely low levels. Mir has a legitimate gripe. But also what they can see now and apparently what Jones popped for, wouldn’t even have been noticeable when Jones failed in 2017.

from what Ariel's been saying, it sounds like they don't have definitive proof that it's just a leftover from his previous failed test, and the UFC/USADA is pretty much giving him the benefit of the doubt.

This sport is nuts

Yeah, it doesn’t seem like it’s even possible that they can know for certain that’s the case.

But it sounds like the USADA is finding that the turinabol is metabolizing in fat cells, and then when a fighter goes on a cut, it shows up in their urine sample again. Which would explain why Jones was testing clean until ~1 month before the fight. They’re betting on this phenomenon they’re seeing with others being what’s driving Jones’ test, but there doesn’t seem to be (from what I’ve read) a way to prove that he’s not microdosing during the cut or something like that.
