It's not like he is blasting ppl every time out...2 decisions against wonderboy...decision against maia...to me...usman is more aggressive on his feet than those 2...and he has a decent chin too.  He will have to blast usman like he did Lawler to win imo.

Not a huge Woodley fan, but he always has a perfect gameplan. Going up against specialists like Wonderboy and Maia, you can't play their game. He does what he needs to do to keep his title.

Usman isn't a specialist that requires Woodley to be tentative on his feet. I think when he tags him, that should be the beginning of the end.

You got to bring the fight to Woodley and not let him get his timing down. Of course easier said than done coming from a dude on the interweb but if you rewatch the Rory fight he had Woodley fighting off his back foot

I'd come out hacking Woodley's lead leg with leg kicks round while keeping a safe distance than you'd have to expect Woodley to start shooting come round 2 and up. Once you have an idea a shoot is coming try and time it

Ya I have said that I do not like either Woodley or Usman, but I think the fight is 50/50.  You are correct in the assessment of what Usman needs to do.  I think it comes down to surviving the quick bursts of aggression.  Usman  is a pressure fighter, and I believe his hands are underrated (see the dos anjos fight)  He can win on points if he keeps up a heavy pace, and avoids the moments of onslaught from Woodley.  As you stated...easier said than done.

If you're an orthodox fighter which Usman is, start hacking his lead leg, naturally momentum will carry you away from Woodley's right hand bombs and able you too keep a solid distance

Especially considering Usman wrestling negates Woodleys because this strategy leaves you open for take downs

They might be very close in wrestling but wouldnt you think if you go for a kick vs an elite wrestler even if you are one too, its going to be tough to stop the shot completely

When you're fighting a world class fighter like TWood it's the lesser of 2 evils. You can set so much up using leg kicks especially if you come out using them early.

If I were cornering Usman this would be my strategy to start the fight. Mind you, if you don't mix up the kicks past the 1st round and start getting predictable the take down will be there alll day

Woodley is easily the least skilled and least exciting male champion in the UFC. He lost both WonderBoy fights IMO, fought a shell of Maia's self (who honestly is a one trick pony with poor striking), and then was fed an overrated and underskilled Till. I honestly don't get the Woodley love. He's a boring fighter who constantly spams overhand rights and stay out of striking range to avoid damage. That said, Usman is just as boring and perhaps even less skilled. Hoping for a simultaneous knockout and Woodley retirement.

I think you underrate his wrestling a bit. I'd argue Robert Whittaker over Woodley for least skilled and exciting.

Max Holloway has great boxing and kick boxing, probably 2nd best striker behind Mcgregor, but his ground game is even worse than Mcgregors. Ortega just thought he could stand up and pound with him. (He can't, the only guy that probably could is Conor.) so that's where he made the mistake. BUT, Max and Conor are so elite standing up, you can borderline suck at everything else. Sure there are some guys that are well rounded, but those guys aren't ELITE at any one thing.

Moral is, Robert Whittaker is definitely the least skilled and exciting.

He may be the least exciting but he's definitely not the least skilled. He's an amazing wrestler and his boxing is coming along super well.

What weakness does he have? His wrestling game is elite, his striking can stop opponents and his cardio has proven to be just fine.

This is easily the most ignorant comment ever made in this thread. Least skilled? What on earth are you talking about.

I have no opinion on Usman. I honestly don't know if I have watched a whole fight of his.

I did see a statistical breakdown for Usman that was impressive. Basically it was showing how impressive his volume of striking, pressure, and takedowns/control are.

Aso Khabib and Usman are besties. They are always together in training vids or the Embeddeds.

Does anyone honestly think Anthony Smith wins? Or even lasts 3-4 rounds?

Also what do you make of Lawler v Askren? I like Askren a lot just seems like a fun dude but if he isn't going to fight Woodley then I want Lawler to win so it helps stir the pot for contenders vs Woodley. I think we all would like to see TWood v Lawler 2
