He's a tremendous blocker too. Dallas was already high on him. Would have been perfect.

I am coming around to the idea of letting Beasley walk, moving Cooper to the slot when we run 3 WRs and drafting another guy for the outside.

you'll never hear me say we have too many weapons. I am fine with that, but get the Top TE possible first.

That article posted by WH said Marinelli didnt want Watt.

I saw that but most of the guys that Marinelli likes would fit that description at DE. I would like an actual quote that he thought that. TBH Watt is actually bigger then most of the guys he wants at DE. Even Randy Gregory was lighter then Watt coming out.

Gregory for me if he stays off the weed is the future. Even though he made a bone head play with the roughing the kicker he was getting good pressure against the saints. Gregory has been getting better as the season goes. On the Lawrence strip sack he was right there with Lawrence. As for Taco never really saw to much from him when he played.

I agree with you that he is perfect for Rods scheme, and I bet my bottom dollar that Rod knows that for sure now. If in the same position we take Watt. Let's not pretend that Rod and JG didn't like TJ Watt. They only visited with him and brought him for visits every opportunity they could. Brought him to the star. Combine vists. Private workouts. Attended his pro day. One of the 30 pre-draft visits. At the end of the day I think the lack of film with his hand in the dirt clouded their judgment.

I don't have a direct quote, and I doubt there is one to find, but I suspect that was the case.

"We were told that the staff had similar discussions back in 2014 when the Cowboys sought pass-rush help early in the second round. That was Marinelli's first year as coordinator, and the team took Demarcus Lawrence over Trent Murphy, who had some similarities to Watt as a prospect. Lawrence has fit well with the Cowboys. Murphy, who went 13 selections later, was a purer fit with Washington's 3-4 scheme as an outside 'backer."

I believe Watt is best at 34 OLB but that doesn't mean I think he would be bad in our scheme. I dare say he would be good, and certainly make more plays than Taco. I just think 34 OLB is perfect for him. If we had a chance to re-do that pick we take Watt. I'm sure of it.

(It may matter that I was not a fan of TJ Watt and was happy we didn't take him. I didn't like his knee injury history, and had my own concerns about him handling early downs with his hand in the dirt. Do I really want to spend a 1st on a 3rd down specialist? I wanted someone other than Taco but preferred Taco over Watt.  I have since changed my mind. I'm sure Rod has to. )

@DaBoys was right. It was fanspeak.

Te1.

Tavon Austin replacement

Talented cb

Swing tackle

Depth lb

De who I feel will be better in the NFL than college.

53: R2P21
TE JACE STERNBERGER
TEXAS A&M
For the obvious Dak both his safety blanket and a legit deep threat which this provides in better then any other TE (except maybe Fant) in this draft class.
84: R3P20
WR LIL'JORDAN HUMPHREY
TEXAS
I had a choice between him and Colin Johnson. I honestly think LJH is a better value because of his versatility and ability to catch dimes like nobodies business.
123: R4P21
C ERIK MCCOY
TEXAS A&M
Insurance Frederick may be coming back as good as new. But McCoy is crazy athletic like a dancing bear and while he's not as powerful as Frederick he instantly provides valuable depth and a possible future starter at center, guard or maybe even trade bait. Teams have taken notice of his skills.
136: R4P34
EDGE JALEN JELKS
OREGON
A player much in the mold of Gregory physically. Crazy quick, has a long frame and can tear after ball carriers. Has starter quality and could be a instant 3rd down specialist.
160: R5P21
CB BRYCE HALL
VIRGINIA
Have you guys seen him play? I can't believe the simulator let him drop this far. I'm gonna chalk it up to he smoked weed at the combine. Dude has size, speed and good COD skills. I think could be plugged in at FS in certain packages but would be a good nickle corner.
237: R7P21
QB STEVEN MONTEZ
COLORADO
Ah yes last but certainly not least. Chalking his drop up to him letting it slip in combine interviews that his life goal is going to Antarctica and club some baby seals. I don't mind screw those seals they don't buy tickets or even watch our team! Could be groomed as trade bait if Dak improves and leads us to a SB or the other alternative is a possibility. And if he fails oh well it was only a 7th.
