Strong move for the Bears!

Edit: I didn’t see the 2nd round price tag. That’s a hefty price to pay.

It was the pick they received from Baltimore for Smith, so Pittsburgh gets Baltimore's pick...I'm sure they like that there.

This is the first thing from Poles that makes sense...but, of course someone had to point out on Twitter that the Bears fans will probably hate Claypool by the weekend.

Albert Breer@AlbertBreer

The '23 2nd-rounder the Bears are sending to Pittsburgh for Chase Claypool is the one they acquired from Baltimore for Roquan Smith. So they get Claypool (1.5 years left on his contract) for Smith (.5 years left on his contract) and a 5. Chicago still has its own second-rounder.

I would say that this is a far too simplistic way to look at this, and it’s ignoring some nuance and context. But I couldn’t help but laugh at it anyways.

Agree.  I did like both of the guys they got (as I think I had picked each one of them to the Vikings at some point in the draft), so the context is lacking there.

Peter King: "The best player in football Sunday? Not Tyreek Hill. Not even Joe Mixon. Justin Fields. Not only did he set the NFL regular-season record for a QB with 178 rushing yards, but he had his third straight dominant game in a 35-32 loss to Miami. In the Bears’ first 23 games after drafting Fields, they’d never scored 31 points or more. In his last three games, he’s averaging 31.3 points and 107 rushing yards."

It looks like the Vikings inspired Fields.

Justin Fields is becoming a star before our very eyes: Fields set the regular season record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a game (178) in Sunday's loss, while also becoming the first player in NFL history to throw for three touchdowns, rush for a touchdown, and rush for 150 yards in a game.

Teams have tried to stack the box to stop Fields. They've tried to spy him to stop his mobility, but Fields has completed 65.3% of his passes with six touchdowns to one interception while rushing for 320 yards and three touchdowns over the last three games.

Fields is already good, but he's becoming the star quarterback the Bears envisioned when they drafted him.
