Abreu was very solid for a 10 year stretch but lacked that 3 year dominant period to push him in

He's at risk of getting Jim Edmonds'd by the voters. Both he and Edmonds had a consistent 5-6 win stretch for 6-7 seasons rather than a big peak in their careers. Edmonds came close with an 8 win season in '04 though.

I mean, if Craig Biggio is a HoFer, those two are both HoFers and Edmonds is already off the damn ballot. Edmonds got jobbed.

Biggio had fWAR seasons of 9.3, 6.5, 6.2, 4.9 and 4.7 as his 5 best seasons
Abreu - 6.9, 6.5, 6.3, 5.7 and 5.6 as his 5 best
Edmonds - 8.3, 6.7, 6.5, 6.3 and 6.2 as his 5 best

IMO none of them are hall of famers, but that's personal opinion.  They all belong in the hall of very good, not the hall of fame.

Edmonds literally amassed the career fWAR of the average HoF center fielder though and he did it while playing only 9 healthy full seasons and that's if you include 140 game seasons as full seasons.. Seven of his 16 seasons went for less than 120 games so it's not really a longevity WAR either. Six straight years of 6 or better fWAR is a damn fine and (IMO) a HoF worthy peak.

Sad thing is...if he hit .300 instead of .284, he's in the HoF easily because of one stupid stat.

EDIT - Edmonds also was worth only 0.5 less fWAR than Tony Gwynn while playing a much more difficult position and doing it as a GG caliber defender. Yet Gwynn is in the HoF because of his batting average. So damn dumb.

There's little use making the HOF a WAR leaderboard when most of the voters back then were old-school writers.

Yeah but the writers/voters today have unfettered access to these numbers and some of them still refuse to use them. It's sheer ignorance at this point.

Reds apparently pursuing JT Realmuto, with Trammel, Senzel, and Greene possibilities heading out.

Greene might be fine to give up, but giving up the hitters (especially Senzel) is moronic. He’s about as bust-proof as a prospect could be.

Supposedly a deal is around Jonathan India and the Reds aren't offering Senzel, Trammell, Greene, or Santillan.
