Chad Thomas Haters come on in

I didn't think he was TERRIBLE at Miami, he just underperformed to his talent level. His inconsistent play is annoying and it led me to believe that he would be a pass rush specialist in Gregg Williams' scheme. He'll be a good rotational DL for us with great potential to become more in time.

How can people hate a backup? Probably one in the 50 range on the roster. He may end up being solid and he may not make the team. At this point I have very little interest either way. He could be a Raven on opening day so I'm a wait and see.

Because you don't use pick #67 on a back up, especially when there were guys like BJ Hill, Mark Andrews, Jerome Baker, Sam Hubbard and Orlando Brown....

I don't have an issue with him while at Miami, I actually liked him a bit and thought he had a lot of potential. My issue is that I can just tell he is forcing it and his heart isn't all the way into it, Ill go as far to say this occupation is funding what he really wants to do (Music). I don't t expect anything at all from him

Chad Thomas would have been fine in the fifth round. He was always an upside guy in college. That’s why talented guys slip to rounds like the fifth. They are not guys that you use when you have a second round pick and trade back to the top of the third. See Mack Wilson.

Great draft by Dorsey but that wasn’t one I liked.

Meh...he was overdrafted for sure, but Thomas was never going in the 5th round. Too much raw talent. Plus he has 4-3 and 3-4 versatility. Somebody would have scooped him up well before the 4th. But yeah....I wasn't thrilled with the pick as I never viewed him as a long-term starter for us. Guess we'll have to wait and see; the kid has always been supremely talented.

Drafted as tackle couldn't beat a udfa or a bust lt, now he isnt winning the job at rg by the sound of it.

Pluto reported bitonio looked much better than all our olinemen, and Corbett looked no different than forbes.

It's not the last nail in the coffin but it isnt looking good either.

Are we really counting Corb out at RG because he is getting reps at Center and others are getting reps at RG? Don’t have to get every rep at a position group. The way JTC is getting older that maybe an injury this year knocks him out for a week or 2 instead of just the practices

right now who is the back up center without looking it up? Because I have no freaking clue. Campen made a lot of his linemen versatile for positions in Green Bay. TJ Lang started LT RT RG and LG for the Packers under Campen.

Desmond should learn both Tackles Forbes should learn every position but center amen Corb should be a interior guy being able to play G-C-G. Who players that shouldn’t be crossed trained positions in Bit and Robinson. Just let those two lock down the LT. They shouldn’t be moved if an injury happens. Only other players should be moved if one of them go down.

If these rumbles get louder once we get into the preseason games, it’s going to be concerning but Campen should hopefully earn his pay. I don’t care who starts. Just get the best 5 guys on the field.

Agreed.  Everyone should be able to play at least 2 positions on the OL.  Never know when you’ll need to shuffle things around due to injury.

OG Kush iirc, but yes, versatility is key.

Yep.

I’ll be worried when it actually matters, not in May.

That isn't a reason to hate Thomas. Even if it was his fault that is in the past, if he makes the team great if not it is water under the bridge. We can't expect perfection in the draft, really all that any of us wanted was a franchise QB so I'll be happy for awhile.

You can be happy with the team and still criticize individual decisions. Chad Thomas has a lot to overcome and a lot to prove to justify his selection.

Beyond a wet fart of a rookie season, beyond the fact that Nassib had 6.5 sacks in a breakout year while Thomas struggled to make the gameday roster, lies the troubling notion of Alonzo Highsmith influencing the selection of Miami players higher than they should go. Sheldon Redwine certainly felt like more of the same this year, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt until I see him against NFL players.

This is not meant to disparage the football players from the U. I stan Duke and Njoku. I have a problem with any kind of added weight being put on alma mater. On a level playing field, I just don't see Thomas (or Redwine) stacking up equally against other prospects that were available at the time.

Time will tell, but at this very moment, time is saying the so-called hate is justified.

Agreed. I was critical of the pick at the time and he's done nothing to change my mind. I love Dorsey, but it seems like he cut Nassib just because he wasn't one of "his guys". Thomas did nothing and Chris Smith was decent, but rarely saw the field (although that's probably the fault of Williams). I hope Thomas proves me wrong, but I'm not counting on it. If he becomes even just a solid rotational DE, then I'll be happy.

As for Redwine, I thought he went about where he should have. I don't have any issues with that selection.
