It's just like Bountygate in 2009. Sure, you won a trophy, but what does it really mean when you had to cheat to do it? This is absolutely no different. What they did to the Raiders and, really, to the entire sport of football is totally classless. They have no honor. LOL at this being cheating. First off there's nothing to suggest the Pats didn't call Rosenhaus immediately after he was released. If this is cheating, cancel the season because nothing about this sport can be considered legit lol. Patriots are seriously in everyones head. Small Town Values
Yes... The NFL should step in & make AB available for SNF against the Steelers.

Going forward, what effect do you think this is going to have on contracts and FA deals for everyone not named Antonio Brown? This is such an owners mentality post. In what other business can a company draft you out of college and hold your rights for 4-5 years, then franchise you after for another year, sign you to working contracts with no guarantees that are one sided and can release you whenever they want and your only recourse is to sit at home and not collect a pay check to put pressure on the team to trade you somewhere else before they consider releasing They created a system where for a player to have autonomhy they basically have to put themselves in a position where they are being enough of problem to get released. Now people don't like it when players do the only thing they really can do to make moves.

First off 99% of this thread is wrong. The NFL rule is that once a player is released the agent can begin engaging contact with other teams. They signed him at 5 and he was released at 9. That was 8 hours of possible negotiations. They already knew who was interested in trading for him a few months ago. Either way, the Patriots didn't make the Raiders void his contract after he apologized.
Mazrimiv
I really don't get the anger directed at NE. Seems there was mutual interest while PIT was shopping AB in trade. Now Brown becomes available, and he lands in NE. This whole, "the deal happened too fast" argument is absurd. If you want to say Brown maneuvered to get his release for OAK, that's fine. I just don't see where that means NE was involved prior to AB's release.

Yo calm down, so many patriots fans ready to defend their team and I'm not even saying they did anything wrong. Yall are far to sensitive about people talking trash. No repercussions at all for AB and New England. They were able to sign him as if the Oakland-Pittsburgh transaction never happened. The only justice I see in this deal is he's going to New England. That's like sending a 4-star general back to boot camp to clean toilets with a toothbrush.
Sugashane
Not really, OAK made a statement by outright releasing him rather than allowing his agent to seek a trade. With his contract voided he was only getting paid week to week right? So whole suspended would he still get paid? If not a 2-3 week suspension would have been a bigger " f*** you" to Brown, especially if they traded hisnrights to a team that had zero chance at the postseason. Send to MIA for a conditional 7th if the offers arent there, just to really drive back at him. Something like that. Oak mishandled this, it is their fault for letting him have the freedom to go wherever he wanted.

childofpudding
Yeah, if the Dolphins signed him, this thread would have the title "LOL at the LOLphins, what retards!" But it's the Patriots so it's a conspiracy. All good
