Packers place G Lane Taylor on IR

We were high on Jenkins once we drafted him, figuring he'd be the eventual successor at this spot or Right Guard. Maybe it's a bit early, but that won't mean much if the guy is a genuine brawler on the field. The prediction is he plays on Taylor's level, if not slightly better(honestly, that's not a compliment this season; Taylor's looked like the most vulnerable lineman on the GB OL these first two games)

As far as Taylor, he had a really strong year a couple years back.  Last year he struggled for some reason.  Injuries maybe.  Elgton Jenkins has looked good in limited action and he might be the next 2nd-4th round Packers OL to turn into a really damn good player.

We have been rotating him in already.  There was an open competition in camp between Jenkins and Taylor.  This seems like it was the plan all along, but the injury just sped up the process.  This does hurt if the Packers lose another lineman.  The current depth is not good.

Not a big loss, but he was a starter.

I guess, but Jenkins was getting starting reps in games and it seems like it was pretty clear it was only a matter of time before he took over for Taylor in season.

Not good for depth though.

It definitely hurts the depth. Hopefully use him as late season depth and recall him from IR once he’s eligible.
