Boston is forecasted to get 2” of rain between now and Thursday night. It’s supposed to continue raining throughout the game with 25 MPH winds. The field will be a mess. Not sure if this favors offense or defense.

if anything, its an equalizer

The eye test tells you he has been great on third downs, but I had no idea it was that good.

Best rated passer on Monday when the temperature is above 50 degrees and whose birthday is within the first half of the year.

After tomorrow he'll have the best quarterback rating playing in Boston on TNF after 2" of rain

On 3rd down vs Tampa Jones was 6 for 10 for 84 yards and a TD. 120.4 rating

  • This excludes a 3 yard run on 3rd and 4 and a couple sacks on 3rd and 15 plays.
  • The Giants were 6 of 13 on 3rd down overall.
  • He was 2-4 for 33 yards and a TD in 3rd and long (7+ yards) with those 2 sacks. 117.7 rating

On 3rd down vs DC Jones was 7 for 8 on 3rd down for 103 yards 118.8 rating

  • He was 3 for 3 for 46 yards on 3rd and long (7+)  118.8 rating
  • The Giants were 8 for 13 on 3rd down

Against the Vikings he was 4 for 7 for 45 yards 76.5 rating on 3rd and long

  • The Giants were 8 for 16 on 3rd downs vs the Vikings

Add it up and he is 9-14 for 122 yards and a TD on 3rd and long passes which is a 115.8 rating

  • A closer look will show you he has failed on 11 of 17 plays that were 3rd and long
    • 5 incompletions
    • 3 sacks
    • a 4 yard pass on 3rd and 21
    • a 15 yard pass on 3rd and 17
    • an 8 yard pass on 3rd and 18
  • This is still good because 3rd and long is rough, but not slobber worthy like the tweet suggests.

How about this stat?

Daniel Jones has an 81.0 rating on all plays that are not 3rd and long.

Maybe play Eli and let Jones on the field for 3rd and long like Cunningham in 1985?

How isnt this locked yet

There's actual football discussion going on.

This is actually above the median line (are we calling it the Rammy Line or the Ruskie Line, now?) for constructive discussion in NFL Gen.

The Rammy-Ruskie Line. I love it.

C'mon man. This is close to the border, but it isn't one of those inane stats. It's one statistic based on 2 qualifiers. Having the best passer rating on third and long is impressive.

Jones seems to rise up when things are tougher. He's the best on third and long, and he's been very good under pressure, especially in his first start.
