Rome Eternals

Motivation

Our playoffs start this week.  We can't lose any more games this year if we want the bizzbowl crown

Offense

Open it up

Welcome back captain Drew!! This week we face a defense missing its top two edge rushers and star mlb.  Despite missing Mosley, lb is still clearly the best position on the Seoul defense so we're gonna go four wide most of the game and challenge the front four and secondary

We are generally gonna use trips formation as this allows Drew to tell pretty quickly if it's man or zone.  We'll be moving Edelman in motion as well to help the presnap read. We don't plan on doing anything fancy here.  Floods, wr screens and seams against zone. Full route tree with our WR against man. Lindsey and Gurley will get involved in the passing game also.  If they go blitz heavy(more than five guys) , we'll start keeping a back in to block

We will be using hurry up also with Seoul being depth depleted.  We will throw in some draws and off tackle plays out of the shotgun to keep the defense honest.  We love our offensive line against their front four without much LB help

Near the goaline we'll put in the two TE look with mack and Robinson in this formation

Tl/dr :  Air raid hurry up. Captain Drew reads the d presnap.  Run enough 30% to keep them honest

Defense

This week we welcome in youngster Kyler Murray and the balanced Seoul offense.  Seoul likes to run with two TE so we're gonna go with a big nickel look this week.

Ray's Hawn Jenkins gets the big nickel responsibility as he often plays this role in the charger Irl d.  He is tasked with Kelce coverage with help from Jarrod Wilson. Kelce will not beat us and we don't care if he's out wide.  LVE is gonna be responsible for Hooper while our other LB gets Edmonds or whatever RB they use this week. Humphrey has Crowder who we will press the little man who isn't used to that from the slot while Prince takes the other WR.  Three wide nrc comes on for non LVE LB. Four wide brings a zone look. Boston patrols the middle of the field

Up front we like Mccoy and Davenport against the right side of their line so we'll have meat wall Brockers or Ionnidis line up tween LG and C on passing downs to force the initial help there

If they think outside the box and go three te we'll take Humphrey onto kelce with prince getting the other WR with Jenkins on Everett cover one robber

We will occasionally run some cover two and three zone blitzes to keep the offense honest

If man is getting beat we are gonna drop into cover two zone more often out of nickel base.  The cover two zone requires athletic intelligent linebackers which we have two of

Tl/dr

Eliminate kelce.  Trust the corners. Big nickel

Seoul Dragons

Offense

Our goal this week will be to move the ball by trying to beat Rome LBs and safeties, which are the weakness of their defense. Our run/pass ratio will be dictated by the health of Tyrell Williams. If he is out or limited we will aim at a 60:40 run/pass ratio, if he’s 100% we will likely go with a more balanced attack.

As always our passing game and formation will revolve around our tight ends. We expect Travis Kelce to be double covered. If Rome plays zone or if they have a safety or LVE in man coverage, Kelce will be heavily targeted. If a corner is on him, then we will run on Kelce side, benefiting from the weight advantage we have there. If Kelce is indeed double teamed, look for us to split him out wide a lot, giving us a lighter box to run on or to give him a 1vs1 matchup depending on Rome adjustments. Hooper will be our 2ndmain weapon today as he will likely face a favorable matchup, especially if Milano is out again, that we will look to exploit. Once again, we will run a fairly important amount of 3TE with Everett in. If Rome counters by bringing another safety in the field we will look to run the ball against a lighter bow. If they choose to bring an additional LB then we will target that LB (Hewitt is our guess) relentlessly.

Chase Edmonds showed he could carry the load last week so he gets the start here. He’s a 3down player so he will see a complete role here. Again we think he can have success in the passing game vs Rome so he will see a decent amount of targets. In the running game he gets around 20 carries with Howard getting around 10-15 depending the flow of the game. We will run a zone blocking scheme, trying to create space between Rome tackles and ends, putting pressure on their LBers to read and react. Rome LBers aren’t good against the run (they aren’t very good overall) so we think this can work for us. Murray will some carries on read options as well to keep some unpredictability

Outside we will have Tyrell (Robinson if out) run deep routes to keep Boston from cheating inside. If he does, we will target him on go and post routes testing that matchup vs Humphrey or Amukamara. Crowder will run more inside routes, which we will target heavily against zone coverage. We will often line up Crowder inside Williams to put Humphrey or Amukamara in the slot corner position, where we feel Crowder lateral quickness advantage can help us.

In terms of pass protection, with Okung back we feel our 5 linemen are really good pass blockers so nothing fancy there. If no blitz Reiter will help double whoever is lined up vs McCoy.

Defense

Our main goal today is to stop the run. Rome likes to run a lot with a good trio of RBs and a solid OL so we counter that by going heavy on the DL. Our DL will rotate enough to keep everyone fresh, and on passing downs Jarrett will slide inside with Okwara going outside. In addition, we will have Tartt in the box keying on Rome RB, which should help us limiting Rome running game impact.

Brees is back this week but, at this point of his career, we don’t think he’s that much of an upgrade over Teddy B. We want to shut out any quick passes Brees thrives on and force him to beat us deep. Our corners will play press man coverage, with Wallace getting Juju and Darby getting Cooper (if he plays outside). Marcus Williams will help double Cooper wherever he lines up. K’Waun Williams takes the inside WR, Shaq gets the TE and Tartt gets the RB. Damian Wilson will play middle zone but we will also blitz from time to time or compensate a blitz. We won’t do anything in terms of blitzing, just sporadic inside blitzes to give our DL 1vs1 matchup.

In 2TE sets, Davis comes in for Darby with Williams sliding outside and gets the TE2, whoever that is.

In 2RB sets we keep the same personnel with Williams getting the RB2 in coverage.

In dime packages, Wilson subs out for Taron Johnson

Whenever Goodwin plays, we will have Sidney Jones come in and cover him. Goodwin is basically a glorified track star and we think Jones can run with him, but he will be in offman coverage.
