Depends on what we do next year. I could see a way in which Beathard is named starter and Hoyer is the backup next year.

And for some reason, even with the horrible start, I don't think that Cousins' contract for next year has gone down. It may if he continues to struggle, but I doubt it if he hits free agency. Too many teams need a quarterback...will really drive his price.

That's true. It only takes one. And Lynch seems naive enough to hand out blank checks for "Kyle's guys"

What I want to know is, was it STUPIDITY or ARROGANCE that made Shanahan make Hoyer his starter ?

Instead of Beathard, who everyone here was thought was a reach when we took him in the 3rd, or Barkley who is out of the league right now?  Even if Beathard surprises over time there is zero need to rush him into the fire.  This year is toast.  Suck for Darold, or Rosen, or take your pick. Don't rush a young QB in before he's ready.  Everyone knows this is a multi-year rebuild project.

i would have taken any of those rookie QBs over this clown

actually I would have taken Kap over this clown.

He is completely worthless

Blaine Gabbert 2.0 and has been most of his career

Kaep opted out of his contract. He wasn't an option. The rookie QBs - sure, they've been mighty impressive to date as well.

I mean Hoyer is pretty much what we all expected. A bad NFL QB. We could have taken a rookie QB but if Kyle didn't feel comfortable it would have been a terrible idea to hitch the next 6 years of this franchise to some guy you don't like. Outside of Hoyer there really wasn't anyone else who would come play here so I don't see the problem with Hoyer. Better to wait out this year, suck, draft Rosen and then succeed. It's a rebuild from the ground up and we really shouldn't expect too much out of this team for the next couple years.

Kap was told either opt out of his contract or he'd  be cut anyway

he was essentially railroaded so...tomato tamahto

Point being, he was gone. Wasn't an option. Nor should he have been. His on-field play had been a disaster long enough. Instead we have a cheaper one-year rental that only one person on this forum seems to think was meant to be a long-term answer or something.

Interesting game. Shocked that we actually showed something in Seattle. Hyde needs to consistently be part of the game plan. Theres no reason he shouldn't get his touches (just saying). Our defense looks good, I was surprised that they were able to hold them so frequently with our quick 3 and out(s). Sad to see Reid is probably out for awhile. I was more surprised that they let him back on the field. I think it might be his MCL, I'm no doctor, but it looks like his lateral movement was bothering him. It could be a sprain and nothing serious, I had something similar when I played basketball.

Of course Hoyer looks like garbage. He had plenty of throws thrown behind the receiver and the line looked better than last week. Our run game was nice and Hyde kept a lot of plays going.

Onto Thursday night game vs the Rams! Hopeful, but Goff is playing nice, even though they lost today. We will continue to have a rough season...

Game over.  At least the Defense looked great.  And Tomlinson  has helped the offense some.  But Hoyer???? I think he can do better, but not better enough to win against teams playing better than Seattle played today. My 5 or 6 win prediction for the season is not looking very good at all right now.

If we are to win 5-6 games, then we have to beat the Rams on Thursday night. That's a winnable game at home. If we lose that one, good luck getting more than three wins.

Doesn't seem that his play style was something that Kyle wanted to utilize. There should be no problem with that. You don't want to tether a new HC and GM to a quarterback that they really don't want.

There SHOULD be no problem with that, but sadly the majority of football fans are irrational.
