At least the elf is unique regardless if people like it or not. The helmet inspires nothing at all and is frankly boring/stale and ugly to wear on any sort of apparel. But my point is something is better than nothing and I know a lot of people who love the elf because of its uniqueness---especially those in the 35 year old and younger crowd. If the league held a logo draft, right now the Browns look like they forgot to turn in the card and got stuck with the leagues default logo.
