Sherman's behaviour

In football, players scream at refs all the time.  Some players even act demonstrative.  Coaches often scream at refs and yell profanities at them.  Most of the time, the ref will just warn them to stop or ignore it.  If this were the NBA, then yes, Sherman very well would have gotten ejected from the game.  In the NBA, the refs will give technical fouls or ejections for less than what Richard Sherman did.  But this is not the NBA.

He verbally abused him? What did he say?

he was unhappy with a call and voiced his displeasure. Was he more persistent then your average player? Sure. But that's it.  Nothing egregious. Get outta here with abuse and getting arrested.

Voiced his displeasure? Sure, like how a bully progresses their will on a kid....one way of putting it.

He took his helmet off, screamed at the ref. If it stopped there, then it would have par for the course. it DID NOT STOP THERE. You haven't watched it. That is egregious.

Show, he took it further than 99% of cases.

Took helmet off

continued to scream and remonstrate

chased official to carry it on

team tried to remove him

carried on....

That is rare.

???like a bully progresses his will on a kid? Good gosh. This must be either trolling or You have some agenda of some sort against Sherman or "bullies"

He took his helmet shouting "how?!", he wasn't insulting him, he never cussed at him. He like any other player was angry at a call.

Now if you wanna say he should've  gotten another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which would lead to an ejection then sure that it a bit more understandable but asking for an automatic ejection and a suspension is shameful

Jesus christ, he was flagged!

Except he wasn't flagged for this supposed "verbal abuse" you claim to have seen. He was flagged 3 times on that play. First was for PI on the throw, second was for holding on the return and 3rd is for taking his helmet off in the field of play. He wasn't flagged for the him arguing the call otherwise you see players get flagged for that all the time.

Heck coaches yell at refs all the time. Belichick  even grabbed a ref And Wilfork was screaming at a ref with much more force that Sherman did, suspend and arrest them!

IIRC there have been several instances where a player was not penalized on the field, but when the NFL reviewed play, they were given a fine.

I don't know about an ejection. He didn't touch the ref, which is the rule.

Perhaps a delay of game penalty on top of everything else would have been appropriate - and I feel the NFL should come down hard on him for 2 separate actions - 1) the late hit/helmet-to-helmet 2) continuing an argument that is disruptive to the flow of the game, and could be deemed "actions detrimental to the integrity of the game" as we know, these men are role models for the kids.

35 yards in penalties and a pair of $100k fines would get his attention.

Fortunately, they lost the game, so perhaps Carrol will be up his rear all week to clean it up. Frustrated or not, that's not how you play the game in 2017. 1975, sure, but not now.

Because he didn't get ejected is why I'd suspend him. A fine won't stop him, and it won't stop others doing the same. A suspension might.

Did Sherman cross the line in this case? Perhaps. I'll leave it to the NFL to make that call. Football is incredibly fast sport and plays happen in an instant. Slo-mo replay has slightly diminished the split-decision making players must make. Still must keep your wits about you nonetheless despite all of the emotions that the sport brings forth.

I admire, especially as a CB, the physical presence he brings to the game which is only matched by a small few. Beyond being an an extremely intelligent and talented player, and along with his excellent coverage skills and jam techniques, he also contributes heavily to the run game which is an often overlooked aspect and integral part of CBs.
