WRs really haven t moved yet.  Does their contracts start to get depressed in value during free agency due to the seemingly endless supply of WR prospects yearly in yhe draft?

Combination of the salary cap going down, deep draft class and the position just becoming nearly bust proof now me thinks.....

If Deshaun is done with Houston then he should let them trade him to any of the other 31 teams.

If he needs to destroy his trade value by forcing them to only negotiate with 2 teams then they need to make him play out the 7 games a year for 5 years. (or accept a real trade in year 2 or 3)

One scenario is a guy in a bad situation wanting out.

The other scenario is a scumbag who thinks he is a free agent.

FWIW not a rumor but an observation - IMO Miami signing Brissett is a move you make if you are committing to Tua more than planning to make a run at Deshaun Watson.   Just saying.

Its an elaborate ruse...

I'm pro Watson - but yeah. Out is out, if the culture is toxic then you'll be satisfied anywhere. Miami, NYJ, Carolina, Chicago - all should be on your list.

If you're trying to leave because it's too hard, then that's a different discussion. At this point though, these rumors are getting tiresome. Just get it over with.

Quick mental game/hypothetical - let's say Watson is traded to one of his teams (whichever that is). Once traded, he regresses a bit (60% 3,500/25/12) and his team goes 6-10 or something, misses the playoffs and hands the Texans a top 10-15 pick.

How does his narrative change?

With Watson it is beginning to feel like he’s just running away from the pressure of being the quarterback of a bad team, and had to frame it as the team having done some horrible wrong.  If the Texans brass were actually as bad as Watson’s camp was trying to make it seem, he’d have taken any ticket out of town. Now it’s that he wants to go to these two teams who happen to be a QB away from competing. Crazy how that works out....

Russel Wilson is beginning to feel like he’s running away from NFC west defences, and had to frame it as the teams fault he didn’t win MVP or blaming his protectors and the scheme.

not exactly the leadership the movies would have you believe quarterbacks possess, I imagine they’re hoping they’re traded so they don’t have to look in the eyes of the other 52 guys on the rosters they’ve been throwing under the bus all offseason. I’m probably being too sanctimonious but the whole “sign a major deal and gobble up all the cap Space then blame everyone else and demand a trade about it” is really starting to irk me.

BTW Allbright has been one of the DEN reporters who has been adamant Watson-to-Denver ship had sailed.    He's done a considerable backtrack today.

Doesn't mean Denver is getting him.  But he's been on the train insisting that wasn't going to happen.  This is quite the hedge now.

I think everyone is just CYA on this story. It's impossible to predict the behavior of irrational people, and pretty much everyone involved in this is irrational (Watson included, if he's rejecting everyone but SF or Denver).

You've got to think he's playing elsewhere via trade or sitting out this season - one of those two is most likely, but just about everything is on the table (retiring, playing in Canada, playing for the XFL, playing the minimum six games for the Texans, trying out for the NBA D-League, getting into NASCAR...)

ONLY thing that is certain is that Watson isn't playing a full season for the Texans.

Right - but Allbright was saying before that it was never going to be Denver.  He’s now acknowledging the FO will clearly bid once he’s officially available that’s all.  FWIW the plugged in reporters like Troy Renck were saying the FO would be in on the bidding.    Allbright was a notable dissenter.

It never made sense tbh but he’s the last Den reporter to now acknowledge a strong bid is coming.  Might not be enough and who knows when but for Denver fans and ppl who follow / trust him it’s noteworthy for sure.

Aha, gotcha. Yeah, I don't think anyone would fault Denver for jumping on this opportunity.
