rackcs
Sacramento Sasquatch Offensive Formations: We will feature a 3 Wide base and motion to a 4 Wide and Empty this Game. Gallup and X, Edwards at Z, Boyd in the slot, Fant will be the TE and will play Big Slot in 4 wide after motioning. Back split is Taylor 60%/Gibson 30%/Dobbins 10% this week. Offensive Strategy: Motion to Read Coverage Pre-Snap Use Motion every play of either Fant or RB to determine man or zone and slow the tempo of the game increasing our time of possession. Some plays we open in a 4 Wide and motion Fant in-line and others in a 3 Wide with Fant in-line and then motion him out to Big Slot. Some plays we will open in empty and motion RB back into the backfield or vice versa. Quick Passing against Man with a Few Designed Deep Shots Once we determine coverage, against man we want to allow Ryan to pick and choose matchups and spread the ball around using a heavy dose of rub routes to free guys quickly to be especially effective against loaded boxes and blitzes. We expect Fant to feast if single covered with the rub routes creating extra space for him allowing him to be a problem for Seoul with RAC. If any of our receiving options are doubled it will open up other one on one matchups for Ryan to pick on. We will audible to a few designed deep shots to Gallup on the outside with Boyd also attacking the seam to keep the defense honest against Press Man. Flood Zone Coverage with Combo Routes Against Zone, check to Combo routes, an underneath route against the outside corners on each side and an over the top route behind the outside corners on each side. This combo of four routes total, will give us an option in front of the corner if he bails to cover 3 and an option behind the corner if he plays flats in cover 2, in front of the safety zone drop to attack open spots in coverage. The RB will release to a quick route attacking the middle of the defense where they will start to spread out to support those outside shots. Exploit their Biggest Weakness The Seoul LBer’s have not played well this season. Kirksey especially against the pass has been lacking. We want to take advantage of this weakness of Seoul. If we get one on one matchups with LBers on our backs we will attack this matchup frequently especially with Jonathan Taylor who is 8 for 8 on receptions this season for a 9.5 yard avg per. Utilize our Strengths in the Run Game Zone Scheme run plays to take advantage of the heavy bulk on their dline, with the athleticism of our offensive line. Zone combo blocks on Grady Jarrett to neutralize his penetration. Getting to the second level to create extended run lanes. Moving the line of scrimmage creating open gaps for backs to slash through. Defensive Formations: 4-3 against 2 TE sets, Nickel against 3 Wide, Big Dime against 4 Wide. Darious Williams gets the start with SMB as outside corners, as Williams has been playing very well to start the season. Nickel, Callihan comes in to cover slot. Big Dime CGJ plays other slot as CB/S. In 3 Wide Kyle Van Noy comes off the field. In 4 Wide we will play Kenneth Murray and his athleticism as the Mike. Defensive Strategy: Don’t Underestimate a Wounded Team Seoul is banged up on offense but they have some good depth and we will not take them lightly. Disciplined assignment focused football against Kyler and his offense this week. Mix of Zone Coverage Heavy zone between Cover 2 and Cover 3 with an occasional Cover 6 with the flat defender on Kelce’s side. Woods lines up in box in all coverages on Kelce side. He peels off to deep coverage in Cover 2 or Cover 6, acting as a depth gaining spy with the ability to undercut passes as he gains his depth. Press every play to disguise which zone coverage. Kyler Focus We will task Kyle Van Noy in the 4-3 and Kenneth Murray in the Nickel and Dime with one of two assignments, spying or blitzing Murray, which we call “Kyler Focus”. And whoever has Kyler Focus will move around the second level of our formation to give different looks. The zone allows defenders to play eyes forward and react quicker to Murray scrambles. Run Gap Discipline Our ends line up heads up on TE’s to help disrupt timing of routes. If 1 TE set, weak side DE lines up head up on OT. We will 2 gap with our DT’s lining them head up on the Guards, freeing up Schobert to see it and go get it. Fatukasi will be the primary Downs 1 and 2 sub at DT, with Oliver being the sub for 3rd and long and obvious passing situations. We will gauge the fatigue of our ends and tackles and rotate as needed. SQUATCH STRONG! Seoul Dragons Offense Put the ball in Kyler hands. This week again we face a stout defense against the run but a defense which is more vulnerable to the pass. Despite a few injuries up front we think we can pass protect very well against a pass rush which isn’t that scary tbh so we want to put the ball in Kyler hands and trust him to win this game for us, with his arm or his legs Target the middle of the field. We want to target the middle of the field to expose Sacramento weakness at LB. Kelce, whenever not double teamed, will be heavily targeted again. He will run a lot of option routes to either find the soft spots in zone coverage or simply beat his defender in man. Lockett and Gage will often run crossing patterns where we think Kyler can hit them in stride. If Watkins is out, Hooper starts at TE2 and will run short routes to give a safety valve to Kyler. Finally, we will have Drake and Edmonds (mainly) running routes (wheel, seam or corner) where they can outrun Sacramento LBers if left in man to man Turn Kyler loose. This week we will really let kyler loose and use his legs as much as we can. We will call some designed QB runs and run options for Kyler, but running the ball will also be an option for Kyler on any given passing play, especially against man. Make Sacramento respect our deep passing. We do not want Sacramento to be able to drop bodies around the LoS so we need to make them respect our deep passing abilities. If available, Sammy Watkins will run a lot of deep routes (Agholor will replace him when a breather is needed) and we won’t hesitate to take a couple of shots, especially against the shortest CB he may face in Callahan. If he’s out, Lockett will run a little less of crossing routes and a little more of deep routes, but we will also involve Kelce in our deep passing game. A few trick plays have been incorporated as well, like a flea flicker and a wildcat alignment where Russell Gage throws deep to Lockett. Run outside. Sacramento is well equipped to stop the run upfront and we respect that. We will mostly target outside zones to run the ball with tosses, stretches, options, and even reverses to our WRs. We will often pull guards to send an additional blocker there. One area we will test also is between the tackles and ends as we anticipate Sacramento ends to try to contain Kyler inside, which might lead to opportunities to Drake & co. Drake will play most of the snaps, with Ingram backing him up. Kelley comes in on rushing downs and Edmonds on passing downs Defense Load the box. As it is the case for us, Sacramento comes in a little banged up with two of their best weapons out this week. We think we can stop them outside so our goal will be to have them beat us through the air. We will run mainly out of that 4-3 under look with 5 rushers and Tartt playing in the box almost as a LB. That accomplishes two things for us: 1 – it gives us a lot of bodies to stop the run / 2- it allows us to get 1vs1 matchups against Sacramento extremely talented OL. Gap control will be key for our DL, especially for whoever plays the 4tech position. However, whenever lined up against Risner, Jarrett will be in attack mode as this is one matchup we like upfront. A lot of rotation will be applied to keep everyone fresh. Chubb can play SLB or LEO. Collins can replace Lancaster or Jarrett. DJ Jones will rotate with Williams but also play some 4 tech in running downs especially. Ifeadi will rotate at the LEO spot as well. Krys Barnes will play a dozen of snaps too, either for Tartt or for Aldon and can give us more versatility to give Matt Ryan different looks if needed. On Passing downs, Dugger (or McLeod if distance is above 10 yards) comes in for Lancaster and plays closer to the LoS as well. Man Coverage. We don’t fear Sacramento weapons and we will play man coverage most of the game. Fant will be covered by Tartt. Steven Nelson will get Tyler Boyd. Kristian Fulton gets Gallup. And Darby gets Steven Sims or Preston Williams or N’Keal Harry. Marcus Williams plays deep safety to prevent any big play. Kizer (or Dugger when on the field) gets the RB. VigilantZombie
Both gameplans are good. But the lack of fear or what sort of translates to me as lack of respect for Sacramento's weapons, is what I think ultimately costs Seoul a victory here. Gallup and Boyd have been very good so far rhis season and regardless of the ineptitude of Atlantas defense and special teams, Matt Ryab has been very good. Sacramento makes Seoul respect them in a win 31-13 Sacramento
bcb1213
I think ted makes the mistake of leaving Micah Kiser one on one with no help and Sacramento targeting their RB out of the backfield should be the hot route with the five men front. ,
Jlash
A couple game plans this week where one opponent flat out says they don't respect another opponents offensive weapons, and both times I've disagreed. I think Ryan can make that offense work, in a ball control game played by both sides to get the W.
Blue
You never want to see "Turn Kyler loose" on the same week Kyler has a real clunker of a game. Sacramento's secondary is eye-opening in terms of neither of those CBs should be starting IMO, but quarterback play this week is the deciding factor for me. MD4L
I love Kyle Van Noy @Counselor but asking him to spy those uber athletic QBs is a tough task. That being said, I see a high scoring game bc the strategies against both defense leave some winnable matchups across the board. Matt Ryan is a little more trustworthy than Kyler Murray right now. rackcs
I think this game will be closer than some are thinking but ultimately I agree that Ryan will be able to find open guys in man coverage and make the plays needed for SacTown to win.
