Ivory Coast Black Rhinos

Offense
Primary Formation: 11 Personnel Single Back- With the new additions of Ezekiel Elliott and Chase Edmonds to the backfield, we return to the basics with the 11 personnel, getting three receivers on the field along with a tight end. We also welcome back the addition of Zack Martin this week, bringing our offensive line back to full strength.

Running Game Focus- This week we welcome the additions of Ezekiel Elliott and Chase Edmonds as the new 1-2 punch in Ivory Coast. Now we understand that Elliott hasn’t exactly lived up to his billing this season, but he remains one of the better starting running backs in the league, and we expect him to thrive behind our offensive line in comparison to his NFL’s team, as well as not have to rely on being the focal point. We’re aiming for approximately 25 carries between Elliott and Edmonds, about 75-25 split. We’re going to primarily operate out of the single back formation, though we’ll have a few runs out of shotgun. Kyle Rudolph will come on for short yardage / goal-line situations, which is when Robby Anderson will come off. We feel our offensive line matches up well against their defensive front, and we should be able to rely on a sustainable ground attack. Once we get into the flow of a drive, we’ll build on the run to assist with the passing game in the form of play actions. Once we build a lead, we’re going to try and limit the explosiveness of the Hungary passing attack by working the clock with the running game.

Passing Game Focus- With an actual running game for teams to worry about, we expect to see more success in the passing game as well. Our starting trio for this game will be Terry McLaurin, Robby Anderson, and Chase Claypool, with Corey Davis being the first man up from the bench. We’ll be flexible with where we line the three up, and are willing to attack mismatches in coverage. We’ll be leveraging motion a bit, both to identify the coverage whether man or zone, as well as to bring a receiver across for a quick jet pass or bubble screen. We’ll have a balance on offense with the running game, and during drives rely on some play actions to really let Tannehill thrive and make a big play. We’re going to use Jared Cook as our primary tight end, and at times we’ll split him out as if he’s a receiver. Cook should be a good mismatch against the Hungary linebackers, and when we’ve got the running game established, the play actions will become much more lethal. With route concepts we’re going to use a lot of breaking routes, relying on flood concepts against zones and rub route slants against man. We’ll send a man to test their deep coverage and see if Tannehill can’t hit one deep. We will use our running backs to run a few routes as well, sometimes chipping on the way out, but typically they’ll stay around and then work their way out as a safety valve for Tannehill.

X-Factor on Offense: Ezekiel Elliott- Regardless of where he’s at right now, Elliott brings an enormous boost to an Ivory Cost that had been trotting out Wayne Gallman and D’Ernest Johnson two consecutive weeks. He will help restore balance to the offense, providing a reliable and sustainable rushing attack, which will help set up play action down the line, and prevent the defense from keying in on either run or pass. We’ll also leverage Zeke in the passing game a few times, trying to get the ball to him in space.

Defense
Defensive Formation: 4-2-5 Nickel Defense- We anticipate that Hungary will come out in their 3 receiver attack, and counter with our 4-2-5 Nickel defense. When Hungary has 2 receivers or fewer, Bradley Roby will come off and Patrick Queen will come in at middle linebacker. When they go 4 wide receivers, Devin White will come off and A.J. Terrell will come in as the dime cornerback.

Secondary Coverage: Cover-2 Man-Under Scheme- Hungary has some good receiving targets, so we’re going to have to bring our A-game. With the talent that they have, we’re going to play it safe and primarily run a cover-2 man-under scheme this game, keeping our two safeties high, and corners playing up in man. Patrick Peterson will be assigned to DK Metcalf, Jaylon Johnson will be on Adam Thielen, and Bradley Roby will take Kenny Golladay. Lavonte David will be covering the primary tight end, with Devin White covering the running back. If the running back stays in to block, Devin White will sit and spy on Carson Wentz, and not allow him to escape the pocket. While this is the primary defensive coverage we run, we’ll still have some cover 2 and cover 3 zones as well, but we’ll always keep at least 2 men deep to prevent the big play. We’re not going to try and get physical by jamming at the line, but we aren’t going to give a big cushion either.

Defensive Box- Name of the game for our defensive line – Get To Carson Wentz. We’re going to bring a solid rotation of interior linemen, give them one gap responsibilities, and put pressure on Carson up the middle. On the edges, we have Mack and Garrett playing the majority of the snaps, with Chase Young spilling time for both of them, and we’re going to play the run on the way to the quarterback. Our main resolve with the defensive line is to get to Wentz early, often, and throw him off his rhythm and out of sync with his receivers. We don’t want him to get comfortable. When we leverage some zone plays, we’ll also bring Devin White on some of those plays as an additional zone blitzer, right in the middle A gap. We’ll rely on our linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White to flow sideline to sideline to limit the rushing attack of Hungary.

X-Factor on Defense: Devin White- We’re going to use Devin White as a spy on passing plays where the running back stays in to block. He’s going to read Wentz and attack him if he tries to break out of the pocket. We’ll also leverage White’s blitzing ability, having him pressure up the A gap on some of the zone coverages we sprinkle in.

Hungary Hippos

Offense:

On offense this week we plan to double team both Mack and Garrett every single play. Dotson and Massie will double block one side of the line while Hock and Fisher double team the other. We are going to give Wentz all of the time we possibly can in the pocket and neutralize ICBR’s terrific pass rush.

On offense we are going to be focused on screens, runs and quick throws this week. Wentz will throw to his plethora of receiving threats at receiver. We want to get a lot of his throws out of his hands in 2 seconds or less. We will rely heavily on our receivers getting YAC this week. Golladay, DK and Thielen will be heavily used in slants, drags, flat and crossing routes. We are also going to be heavily utilizing the screen pass especially to Garrett’s side of the field so neutralize his pass rush even further. We will use the RB and WR in this area. To balance our quick passing game we will have a healthy dose of running game with Robinson getting the lion share with Fournette and Henderson getting the rest. We will especially look to run towards Mack’s side as he is coming off of injury this week and may not be at full strength. There will be some sporadic usage of 2TE looks with Jordan Reed/Greg Olsen, as well as the rare four wide just to spread out ICBR’s defense a bit more.

Defense:

ICBR’s running game is still abysmal. Gallman has 25 total carries on the season. Johnson has 27 carries. Expecting one or both to carry a heavy workload, and put up the production Derrick Henry provides Tannehill led offenses is nonsensical. Tannehill’s success is linked to the threat of the running game. Without a consistent running game, Tannehill falters (see Miami Tannehill).

We will be taking a page out of New Orleans’ book this week and using a 2-Man Under Scheme. Smith will start closer to the line while Baker plays deep. Smith split time between blitzing and dropping back to the intermediate level of the defense. While in the intermediate he will be spying the QB primarily as Tannehill likes to run. We will have a healthy rotation with our pass rushing threats led by Ogbah.  We will run some overload blitzes throughout the game to Williams side of the field as he has struggled to pass protect this year and it will leave Tannehill vulnerable on his blindside.

Hayward will have McLaurin, Moseley will be on Claypool, Logan Ryan on Anderson, Thompson on Cook and Jewell will have the RB. In four wide, Oruwariye will come on to cover the fourth WR and we will switch to a 3 safety look if we go to five wide at any point.

I've gotta go with ICBR here...

Did Hungary forget that Ezekiel Elliot and Chase Edmonds were acquired?

I think both offenses will score points as both teams have really good WRs. But the way its written, it sounds as though Hungary is flat out just going to disregard any running threat because "Gallman and Johnson"  except Johnson isn't active for this game, and Gallman is the 3rd stringer. I think Zeke and Edmonds eat well in this game because they don't get the defensive attention they deserve.

28-17 ICBR

IC takes this one. They have a really strong team and they prepared well for what Hungary wanted to do. As WW said Hungary forgot they acquired Zeke who is a primary focus of IC this week. IC is also using their players to match their IRL strengths especially Devin White in the A Gap as a blitzer at times. He has 5 sacks in his last 3 games.

Apparently PR did his game plan a week ago or so?

Zeke and to a must lesser extent Edmonds, behind this offensive line are going to be very important to IC because Tannehill thrives off of it. I'm not sure what happened with PR in this one but it's hard to imagine this not being a big factor in the game, basically writing off the run game and then assuming the QB will collapse along with it.

Conversely, I think the Hungary WR's are in a good position to have success, but with how inconsistent Wentz has been lately decision making and accuracy wise, combined with the sneaky tid bit of blitzing Devin White while Hungary is focusing on double teams on the DL is going to force a pivotal turnover late in this game that seals it.

Unfortunately the Hungary plan is a bit of a mess from not noting zeke to playing IR Jordan Reed to playing a cover two man without a second deep man. I think the short passing game will have some success as that's what ic is letting them have but I don't think bad Wentz can be consistent enough to make it work for a full game

Ic 21-17
