Excuses but mm takes the field after sitting for almost 2 years takes Carr’s same squad and playbook and makes it happen first drive

this is very different scenario though.
Ds script their first series as do Os.
Teams know that Gruden wants to set the ton with the run game.
you know that first drive against the raiders they are going to try to run the ball so you need to shut it down.
doenst have a ton to do with Carr.

Mariotta coming into the game near the 2nd quarter is nothing like the first drive of a game.
also, Teams dont gameplan for the 2nd qb. It is somewhat typical to see a change of pace qb come in and have some success early.

call it an excuse.
but im not blaming Carr, when our playcalling for opening games is absolute trash and am confident that I could shut it down as a play caller lol

Difference between #10 def (points allowed) which was kc and #30 def us was a td per game.

By that metric, we would've tied in week 4, beat KC in week 11, beat the Chargers week 15, and beaten Miami in week 16.  So 11-4-1 and in the playoffs.  If we literally just skimmed a TD off of each game, we would've been 11-4-1.  If only we had a top 10 defense.

300+ Yds in every game except for LAC when he went out early. 8 passing TDs. 3 rushing TDs.

Yards who cares how many yards if it doesn’t translate to tds.

11 tds in 5 games in dec that’s not enough

herbert a rookie had 8 pass tds and 2 rush tds in dec so he’s slightly better than the rookie

Again, MM was replaced by Tannehill and now the Titans have gone to the playoffs back to back seasons.  MM was a bum his entire time with them.  Look up his stats and their W-L record.  He was clearly the problem.

Well, 11 TDs in 4 and a 1/4 games would probably equal to more than 34 on the season though. Isn't it the threshold to greatness anymore?

Herbert just set the rookie record for TDs in a season lol.  Everyone knows Herbert is going to be good.  Clearly Herbert has a great set of WRs and TEs though.  But either way.  DC played very well in December which we all know he typically struggles with the cold weather.  But this year he played pretty good.

So this year it’s the coaching/ play calling and the defense?

to me just the Defense.
Our O had a ton of problems and were far from perfect.
but we were top 10 in points for, and bottom 5 in points against.

Our O needs to improve, and I think with better playcalling it can.
But with a bottom 5 D, its going to be tough to do better than 8-8

also to note, last offseason a lot of people said give carr better weapons and our O will look better.
we did that, and our O went from
19.6 PPGs to 27.1 PPG

so does that not show that it was not an excuse for Carr? It was literally just us having trash receiving options?
You keep saying theres always an excuse.

There is not this year.
We were a top 10 O.
Carr doesnt play D.

It's more than just that we would have opportunities to score more points because will get the ball back more often and in better field position.  The defense will stop them and not just let them run up and down the feels scoring on us. Plus a few more turnovers can't hurt.
