NateDawg
Well, can’t ride Deshaun Watson’s coattails to any more titles. Put Clemson in the 11-15 range in the AP. That’s where they belong. That loss is huge and should place their resume below the other major conference one lossers.

This terrible loss puts them below any one loss conference winners from the other power fives. Terrible. As meh as they’ve been, and after tonight, likely not to win out anyways. Back to their second tier.

What other 1 loss team has beaten teams the quality of Auburn and VT? Surely not Ohio State.

If Alabama and Georgia are undefeated going into the SEC title game, both will make the playoffs. If Penn State wins out, they are in. But if Ohio State wins out, a one loss Ohio State has a better resume than a one loss Clemson. And this isn't considering the undefeated teams left in the Pac 12 and TCU. Still plenty of season for the crazy games to happen but Clemson right now needs help.

And there's plenty of one loss teams who haven't lost to a 3-3 Syracuse teams with losses to LSU, Middle Tennessee State, and NC State.

Bad loss, no way around this one. Also, if you’re talking overall body of work, and under a generous assumption that both teams win out, resumes aren’t close. UM, PSU, MSU, and Wisconsin in a conf title game would be to come. No comparison whatsoever. Then factor in the quality of loss.

Obviously they need help as of today. But it's pretty silly to think there are going to be several undefeated teams entering the playoffs. Georgia won't make the playoff if they lose to Alabama.
