Really not a fan of signing Ingram. He'll be 32, coming off injury and has been regressing the last few years. If it's a cheap signing, maybe.

Thank you!  He’s definitely regressive or at least his production has.  Not only the injury even pre injury this year he had zero sacks thru 7 games.

Also, he’s never really had THAT many sacks. Since his age 26 season: 10.5, 8, 10.5, 7, 7, 0.  That’s very good but not great.  He’s definitely had very good pressure numbers though.

It comes down to cost really.  If he’s a relatively cheap option with  no test 2 guarantees then sure.  But I wouldn’t pay too much because you’d be getting 50 cents on the dollar.  He’s at the point where you pay him for the production you expect him to at least be able to have and definitely not for what he’s done.

Would need to be essentially a 1 year, pay as you go deal. They are desperate for pass rush, so not going to turn my nose up at the player.

Overall I’m not ecstatic about Gus Bradley as DC but it’s definitely better than what I expected us to do.  We usually sign DCs who are lucky to be position coaches and have no chance of succeeding.  I thought they’re were better options but that just my preference.  He’s had very good success with several teams.  I’m just a bit afraid he’s not adaptive with his scheme as he should be.  However, in the PC he said he’d adjust coverages and Scheme to the talent we have.  Hopefully he does that.  Everyone says that At first.  I will say I think he was one of the top options for a quick turnaround and we should be able to be a top 15 Defense with a good (bit great) Draft and FA that focuses on defense.

I’d much rather have had a DC who runs a man coverage scheme because of the fact mullens is a very good press man corner and I feel Arnette is capable of being a solid CB2 in pressman and will likely always struggle in most zone.  Bradley plays cover 3 with press and bail technique.... and apparently does play some man.  Of all zone coverages the one Bradley runs is the best zone coverage for us.  Hopefully he runs  ore man than usual with Us.

overall I have a reserve yet confident and excited feeling for 2021.

I saw a chart with the coverages on 3rd down for the Chargers against the Raiders last season and there was a bit of everything. Cover 1 was the most used, followed by cover 3.

He did over pursue and was undisciplined.  But in college he spent much more time at a true strong safety position.  He spent the year playing a cover 2 safety for us.  He is too stiff for that.  But I think he will do better with Bradley and will spend much more time chasing running backs on the edge than covering Travis Kelce 30 yards down field.

Agree with this. I think all that interchangeable safety nonsense Guenther was pushing was not only a load of rubbish but totally ill suited to our actual personell

I guess but I see a lot of better options in FA.

Yeah. No one said Ingram is a top FA choice but he’s definitely not a bad option.  Maybe we land a top FS/DT and do a few other things and have a little bit of money left and consider him.  He’s not someone we Target but shouldn’t turn our nose up at either.  Personally I’d rather let things shake out and see if anyone gets cut before I’d Sign Ingram.

Those premium picks are the problem. It is very possible in fact probable that they actually do suck. They all had low ceilings to start with. None of them had special traits to develop coming in. The Raider reached on nearly all of them. They favored program and leadership over actual traits that translate.

Those player had to hit to change the tide of the defense and thus far they have not and it's questionable they ever will.

Do you look at any of the Raiders premium draft picks the last 3 years and say to yourself, that guy can be a pro bowl player? I sure as heck don't. The bar right now is hoping they can just be average so there isn't another hole to fill.

those picks were made specifically for Guenthers system, yes guys were over drafted, but Ferrell was widely regarded as a top 20 pick. I can see Mullen putting it together behind a pass rush. Its hard to decipher what the core issue is right now because its a clusterf*** of problems. On defense, Littleton has proven hes a Pro Bowl type player with the Rams, Joyner was borderline that kind of guys a a FS, Mullen has the tools to build upon, but tell me why he didnt make a clear jump in year 2? Maxx is a pass rush specialist ideally. Kwit is a above average MLB imo. I know you dont like Abram, but like others, i feel he has a place in the league, specifically closer to the LOS where we can take advantage of his play style. Good coaches put players in position to succeed, we will see if Bradley fits that bill, Guenther clearly didnt.
