Chargers
I actually love Matt Ryan as a QB but I strongly believe not only will Stafford thrive with Rams but he'll be getting MVP votes.
fortdetroit
Matt Ryan has been better most of his career. Stafford is better right now though.

To be fair i feel Koetters sorry butt is the major reason for that he is pure garbage as an OC.

ThatJaxxenGuy
In the battle of the passing yards in climate controlled domes I would take Matt Ryan over a career and Matt Stafford right now. Mahomes would look average with Dirk Koetter, no doubt in my mind. Matt Ryan 16-game average under each OC: 2008-2011, Mike Mularkey: 318-of-522 (60.9% comp %), 3,674 yards, 25 TD, 12 INT 2012-2014, Dirk Koetter: 425-of-631 (67.4% comp %), 4,643 yards, 29 TD, 15 INT 2015-2016, Kyle Shanahan: 390-of-574 (67.9% comp %), 4,768 yards, 30 TD, 11.5 INT 2017-2018, Steve Sarkisian: 382-of-568 (67.2% comp %), 4,510 yards, 28 TD, 10 INT 2019-2020, Dirk Koetter: 421-of-641 (65.6% comp %), 4,669 yards, 27 TD, 13 INT He has his worst YPA and INT years under Koetter. The only reason why Koetter has high volume offense is because he's making Matt throw an additional 80 times a year. The only one who had any sort of red zone intelligence was Shanahan, but the Falcons ran the ball in more TDs under Shanahan than the other OCs not named Mularkey. (Mularkey 16.5, Koetter 1st stint 11.3, Shanahan 16.5, Sarkisian 11.5, Koetter 11.5).

There's also the fact that Stafford has never won a playoff game, so it's a weird opinion to have (then again, it is that poster). 😂

The Falcons lost that Super Bowl because Devonta Freeman missed a block, Robert Alford couldn't catch a ball thrown right at him on the Edelman "catch", multiple bad penalties right after the amazing Julio catch, and then Shanahan just sucking with his play calls. (after the Julio catch, there was 4:40 on the clock and the Falcons were in FG range. Down it 3 times and kick a FG and give New England 2:40 to try and get 2 scores. They also missed an egregious facemask call on whoever tackled Sanu on the same play Matthews got called for holding).

Not once but twice from Shanny in the SB for the same dang reason both times lol. The fact people still to this day call Ryan a choker is nuts he right near the top of the list in 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives since he has been in the league. You aren't a choker if your routinely do the opposite thing of it more than most ppl at your position. 90% of the people who say this still remember Ryan from before 2012 when he was god awful in the playoffs. What they fail to realize is his numbers now since 2012 would be considered some of the best in the business.Best career playoff passer ratings all-time (min 10 starts): Bart Starr 104.8 Kurt Warner 102.8 Matt Ryan 100.8 Drew Brees 100.0 Aaron Rodgers 99.4 The fact he was so bad before 2012 makes it even more impressive to now be ranked 3rd in pass rating in the playoffs of 10 or more games. He has been playing amazing football the last 10 years. Also as you said Shanny blew that game as did our O-line because Ryan didn't give cause the sack nor the Hold on both plays after he got us in FG range to put us up 2 scores with under 3 minutes to go. Shouldn't have been passing the ball at all there to begin with trying to run the clock out.

Stafford is one of the 40 biggest chokers in NFL history. If its a big game, he is losing it. If its a good team on the other sidelines, he comes up small. When his teams are at their best in talent, he is at his worst. Ryan was told to take a 7 step drop and Freeman missed a block so he fumbled when Hightower crushed him. Ryan was a 135.2 rated passer in that Super Bowl run including one of the 50 greatest throws in NFL history (the Julio catch) In 2012 Ryan was a 105.2 rated playoff passer and he barely lost in the NFCCG to the handsy 49ers who were not called Harbaugh cried about the exact same thing when Baltimore did it at the end of the Super Bowl Ryan is one of 5 players in NFL history with a playoff passer rating above 100. Calling Ryan a choker is a 10 of 10 on the K-man cold take scale. Edited February 27, 2021 by SkippyX
SkippyX
Brees and Stafford played a playoff game in 2011 that was 24-21 Saints going into the 4th. Brees went TD, TD, run out the clock. Stafford went pick, TD, pick Stafford then shaved off 10 to 12 rating points in each of his next 2 lame trips to the playoffs. (when he was not choking away other playoff opportunities)
