Had the first doctor appointment where the doctor I actually hated.

He asked what was going on, I pointed out I've had a lot of pain around the palmer ligament and that it shoots down 1/3 of my forearm when I try to supinate. I still have a good grip and can press weights, pull if that wrist is neutral, and so on, but even turning the steering wheel can jolt the piss out of me.

"Yeah, I really don't like it when patients self-diagnose," and had a really dismissive tone like he was speaking to a child.

"Good.. because I didn't. I answered your question, IDK whether its nerves, ligaments, tendons, or whatever. I gave you symptoms, that's it. You're the one who is suppose to take that to figure out what tests need to be done to diagnose and treat it."

After a short verbal spar he gave me an order for PT and to come back in 4 weeks and rushed out. We'd talk about imaging after the PT was done.

Went to the desk and scheduled my 4 week follow up, but told the girls I'd see anyone but that "insufferable prick" again. Judging by the smile and one just nodding her head, they hate him too.

That’s a shame. I love my sports medicine doctor. A few years ago I dislocated my kneecap, and went in to see him the next day. We had a very read between the lines conversation where I told him I loved physical therapists and PAs but I’ve found that surgeons like to do surgery.

He smiled and looked at my chart and said that with my medical history of multiple knee surgeries on that knee that if he scheduled an MRI “There is a good chance we will find something. So, how about we do 6-8 weeks of PT first and see how that works after I diagnose you with ______.”

Did the exercises, pain and subluxation went away within 2-3 weeks. He’s great.

Sorry you had that experience!

Its all good. My preferred one is PPO but not in my specific select network so I am trying a few to see who I am happy with. Worth the copays to get set with one I really trust. And if none gel with me and I need something done I may eat the 20% out of pocket cost to go to my preferred one. I'll be able to save money by staying with the select network guys/facilities for the "grunt" work. (clearly not the most fitting word but whatever)

So far all my doctors are pretty damn good, so one bad experience isn't much of a big deal. I assume he must be a REALLY good surgeon, because he seems to be a d-bag to everyone.

I’d say this is almost definitely spot on.

My knee surgeon supposedly is a huge jerk to pretty much everyone, but he played college baseball and when he found out I did too, I got the red carpet treatment from him, whereas a friend of mine absolutely hated him. 😂

Love that.

My guy use to have a contract with the Miami Heat as their ortho and had pictures of him with a bunch of them. Had autographed jerseys and pics. I went in with my Dirk Nowitzki jersey and the first think I said when he smiled and said, "Really" was, "Only 17ppg for the series?" Got along great but he seems to be pretty well cool with everyone. I'd threaten to buy him a Barea jersey, he said he never accidentally removed the cartilage from anyone's knees, but "mistakes happen."  lol

My back surgeon was a spectacular d-bag to the point where its amusing to look back on. Surgery went well.

My foot surgeon was a super nice guy. Did a dog**** job on the stitches, so I had to massage the wound site for months afterwards and drown the thing in vitamin E and it still looks like crap. Very apologetic about it in the follow up consult.

Go with the **** surgeon every time. Also applies to Chinese restaurants for some reason, the more overtly disrespectful the better the food.

Can confirm. The waitress yelling “YOU PAY NOW” at our college buffet was a 10/10. That place was 🔥

Its kind of like selfvoting.

And plus, since squire was a ****, thats a town tell. You know this mwil

@MWil23

I feel good about Malf being town, I like the counter punch, very Town Malf. Plus, you know I don’t vote Squire Day 1. I was going to see who else would though, need to get on the same page going forward.

How do we feel about a Skywind vote? He’s elsewhere on the forum and yet not here. And if it’s him, I’d wager BCB isn’t far behind letting town destroy itself.

Or pickle. I agree with you that the vote should be either pickle or skywind.

You had me at Pickle.

Subtle defense of BCB noted.

Plus getting yelled at by non-white chicks is one of my favorite things, so I'd just be like, "Ohh... yes I will. I pay, right now..."

I think my "favorite" thing about going to specialists is that they rarely do **** for you and they still charge you $90 copays and then an additional $200+ on the visit that your insurance doesn't cover lol. I've been trying to solve my migraine issues for over a year now and I keep racking up specialist visits with no resolutions. Neurologist can't figure it out. Pulmonary doctors/sleep study had no results. So my GP has decided that it's the weather and I actually agree with him.

Oh, he's a surgeon? Well then that makes perfect sense lol.

If there is anyone in the world who should have a god complex and be a dbag, it is surgeons. In fact, I'd be worried if I went to one who didn't behave that way.
