Dolphins surprisingly release.........

Soon as the news broke I checked Over The Cap and they had already removed Van Noy's contract lol. Now the top two highest-paid players on the team are the two starting CB's. Hey the modern NFL is a passing game.

It's AVG time of course, with KVN gone. BTW, did rookie Jason Strowbridge get any snaps at LB in 2020? He could be a surprise option in year two, like Gaskin was in his year two.

I'm a bit scared at the implications this move has.  KVN was overpaid, sure, but it wasn't egregious.  He was a soild contributor and a leader on that D.  If the money is going to be spent on a different FA, ok.  I just don't want to see guys like KVN getting jettisoned to make more cap room for a trade for a certain QB that shall not be named.

29 year old KVN or 24 year old Jerome Baker?  They can now extend Baker (probably for less APY) and stay younger.  I’m ok with the move. Grab a couple young LBs and keep developing. Van Ginkel showed some swag last season as well. Youth movement is still in place.

One issue: Baker is a liability in the running game. Van Noy is not.

I guess this signals we are targeting a LB at 18.  The Notre Dame kid might be pretty good for us there.

My issue is LB was a need before KVN was cut. He wasn't overly expensive, Miami is well under the cap. I have to think there is something behind the scenes we aren't privy to.

I think they are planning on going after a free agent Wr. Godwin, I believe Tampa is more inclined to spend the money on keeping Barret over Godwin. Godwin would still be in Florida with no State income tax going to a team that was on the verge of the play offs and not in a complete rebuild like Jacksonville, or the Jets.

I also see potentially the Lions attempting to move up and including Golladay in the trade package of course that would require him to be franchised then signed to a deal and then traded.

Either WR would be a good investment. (I am now thinking Robinson will end up tagged by Chicago). Rarely do you see a rookie wr enter the league and light it up. I'd still draft a wr but would like to see the 3rd pick used elsewhere if we can't move down.

Goods thoughts. I honestly believe the best course of action for Miami is a trade down to 6 or 7 and then draft Waddle.  If he's gone then get Devonta or Chase.  Everyone should remember that when both he and Devonta were healthy, it was Waddle all day long.  He's more explosive, with comparisons being made to Tyreek Hill.

Really interested to see what the market is on free agency with reduced cap.

Would love to get David but I feel we may have a look at Perryman if cheap enough.

I think this money will be used to go after a big name free agent for either a more premium pass rusher or the wide receiver we all want.

I'd love Perryman.

I'm a U fan so I would be OK with Perryman, but he's a liability in coverage, and if that's the route we want to go then I'd rather have McMillan back.

I suspect we are going to make a play for Pats OG Thuney with the freed up cap.  He's still under 30 years old and the best FA OG in '21, and the Pats failed to extend him, and he was franchise tagged last season so another tag will make him very costly for New England.  Plugging him in at LG would certainly help our young LT more than Flowers at LG.  That would likely move Flowers to compete for RG since his salary of $10mil will be too high to trade him.
