Andre James signed to extension

The $21M we have allocated to the C position with James $8M cap hit and Hudson's $13M in dead cap is higher than the cap hit for any offensive lineman in the NFL in 2021. We also paid Trent Brown $21M in 2020 which was more than twice as much then the 2nd highest paid RT in the league, lol.

Right? Reportedly Hudson asked to be released. If you don't trade Hudson, do you still make this move?

Now we have $21M invested into the C position for a guy with 1 career start, bigger cap hit than any OL in the league. Just comical at this point.

This team man. They can't operate like a normal franchise can they. No way to justify this move. Breaking off a backup practice squad player because "you like him" before he's actually earned anything.

When do they every look smart with these moves? Even if he's a breakout player (which hopefully he is) there is no smart business sense in making this move before he's seasoned in the league.

Feels like a Gruden ego move. Instead of letting James prove himself on the field, had to pay him post trading off Hudson/Jackson for "reasons"

We asked the rest of the OL to take pay cuts and it was so bad that the leader of our OL asked to be released/traded just to sign Andre James to an extension...

Cable has also been the only coach to show he can coach these guys up(TE coach as well but he left) His biggest fail and only fail with the Raiders has been Parker and hey can’t always hit a home run.

Personally, I love Cable. I was irked when we ditched him as HC back when (though I understand why).

But let's be real, Jackson, Hudson, Osemele, Incognito, and Brown (for what he's worth) were proven commodities.

Cable has every reason to be proud of Miller and Good's progress and handling last year with so much uncertainty. But let's not overstate his success. He had the benefit of several players who were already proven, while he himself was fortunate to even have a job considering how his stint in Seattle turned out.

The Autumn wind has blown right out the window with this franchise... nothing makes sense anymore.

Lost in this, you're now putting the spotlight and pressure on a young player with 1 career start. Has to put up or shut up now vs. being able to ease into the role. From a psychologic standpoint it's dumb as well.

Yeah I agree. Most of the moves have been pretty sensible, but this just feels like jumping the gun.

It takes real homers to defend these moves at every turn.

if true, it basically means next year we will be paying him 6 mil (fully guaranteed), and have him on the books for ~6 mil as well in 2023

lol

This is a key component to the who thing. Could be a very low risk high reward deal.

Yeah, Incognito, Hudson, Osemele, and Brown had all already played at a high level for other teams before they signed with us and Gabe Jackson was a day 1 starter from the Reggie regime. Other than Kolton Miller who else has he really developed for us? Good played pretty well last season but was also a veteran guy that had played for the Colts for a few years before we signed him. And if you're going to praise how well Miller/Good have played you also have to take into account how poorly Simpson/Parker played after being 3rd/4th round picks.
