I think they solely did that to get their foothold in the LA market, so they don't lose all the fans when they go back into the tank, as they probably will for a few years. Obviously, they're going to have to restructure him, otherwise, he's an awfully expensive backup...unless, of course, they're basically using Pitts as a WR, which will then cause issues when it comes to his 2nd contract.
