Big Second Year

I'm seeing a lot of first and early second round players, which is a different topic.

If you are drafted top 50 it is assumed that you are starting full time your second year. Let's focus on those who are not generally ready to play starter minutes yet, based on their draft position.

Any more of these out there? L'Jarius Sneed is a breakout candidate.

Sneed allowed 59.6 percent of the passes thrown in his direction to be completed for 250 yards while surrendering just a single touchdown pass. If he can maintain that sort of pre-snap effectiveness in an increased role in 2021, Sneed could easily earn his first career Pro Bowl spot.

Now that's a bold prediction, there are quite a few good CB's in the AFC, going from a 4th rder to a Pro Bowler...have to say that's being hopeful for a 2nd year player

Not really. Sneed played like a Pro-Bowler as a rookie, but he missed nine games. This is just projecting the same level of play onto a bigger role and better health. It's not a given, but neither is it bold.

Definitely something to watch and return to after the season...😄

It is that. If the defense takes a step back, it won't happen. If it takes a step forward, the new starting CB will be a an obvious place to give credit.

One thing is certain, the defense will be different. The top pick was an off ball LB and the pass rush is going to be completely retooled.

If Lombardi's offense clicks and our OL gels I could see Herbert having a monster season. Doubly so if we add Julio to the mix.

Herbert already had a monster season. If anything, he is due for regression

Yeah, from a statistical standpoint he had the greatest rookie season in NFL history. The Chargers did an excellent job of rebuilding their offensive line though and their coaching staff should be better. For Herbert to have a "significant" leap he'd have to pass for like 4,500 yards and 40 TD.

Chaisson should take a step forward as he will be playing his more natural position(3-4 OLB).

Henderson should be better with not being burdened with being the top cb on the team.  he was solid last year but i think he will take a step forward and part of his struggles was based on the lack of pass rush from us.

Shenault should be taking a step forward with having a better qb.

Hamilton should be a significant piece if not a starter on our revamped DL.

Bartch is probably another year away from massive contributions with having 2 solid guys ahead of him at the G spot.

Quarterman is probably on the edge of making the roster as hes probably ILB 4/5 at best right now.

Thomas has some potential and could be a future starter should he make it thru our safety competion.

Collin johnson im not sure even makes the roster bescause he doesnt seem like the prototypical meyer wr.

Luton might be QB 3 at best or the PS arm this year.

Tyler davis has a shot to be a significant contributer at te this year because our TE position is bad.

Chris Claybrooks might be backup Returner and maybe makes the roster due to special teams but he doesnt fit meyers mold of cbs.
