WFT retiring Sean Taylor's 21 this Sunday

Pretty twisted if they're indeed using Sean Taylor's passing, and "honoring" it via a jersey retirement to get heat off their backs.

Doesn't seem like a coincidence either where everyone with influence wasn't cognizant of the stench in the air. Someone with enough common sense would have said this wasn't a good idea given the timing, unless they were afraid to speak up and/or overruled.

The cynic in me thinks they held on to this for 13 years to use at the right time when they needed a distraction.

Eli and Strahan both are having their jerseys retired this year. They were both announced MONTHS in advance with a lot of fanfare. I know every team is different, but that feels like more of the norm for a jersey number retirement than this.

It does make sense to retire #21 in 2021. I'm happy they are too. With that said, doing it randomly in week 6 when they have heat raises suspicion.

The thing is at least in the NBA, it is announced far beforehand when a jersey is going to be retired. You pretty much get some sort of announcement in the offseason. WFT are doing this on a three or four day notice which makes no sense at all.

The first 10,000 fans to enter the stadium gates on Sunday will receive a limited-edition commemorative Sean Taylor rally towel fashioned after the original rally towel created following Taylor's untimely death. Players will wear helmet stickers that pay homage to Taylor and full-time staff with be wearing a #21 lapel pin on gameday in his honor. Additionally, the team's gameday magazine will feature Taylor on the cover and include an article highlighting four of the best plays from his career.

That was pulled from the article on the team site.  As a friend of mine said, it sounds like they had this stuff sitting around for a “in case of emergency, break glass” scenario.

At this point, Snyder has to have dirt on about every single owner and Goodell as well, right? It’s nothing short of pathetic.

Even worse, this is just a testament to how deeply the owners of all 32 teams are in collusion. They own the league, they all know it, and they know if they all look out for each other, it doesn't matter how much awful stuff they do. They'll never seek retribution on another owner because that means it is open season on all of them, and they all have skeletons in their closets.
