I expect you may know better (I tend to be pretty skeptical of subjective analytics), but this seems to tell a different story. Hopefully for the Bears they’re more right than you! 🍻

PFF gave Lucas Patrick a 57.2 grade fwiw.  That article seems a bit optimistic.  And I think the contract would have been significantly bigger if those numbers were accurate.

Poles is playing the comp pick game.

Robinson, Hicks, Dalton, and others will sign elsewhere. Bears have been pretty judicious in FA so far. They can eventually fill the roster with players who get cut. Those players have no impact on the comp pick formula.

You have to ask yourself if having high value FAs for 2022 is more valuable than having an extra 3RP in 2023.

I thought they revised the comp pick system recently since teams were taking advantage of it, am I wrong?

I think Nichols will come in around a 5-6 round value. Hicks will hopefully offset Ogunjobi. Which means Robinson, Dalton, and Daniels could bring back picks.

It all depends who the Bears sign over the next few weeks. But if the Bears take a minimal approach to FA, they could earn multiple future picks in rounds 3-5, then fill the roster with players cut by other teams. Guys like JC Tretter don't count against the formula because they were cut.

As of now they're not in line for any. We'll see on Robinson and Hicks. Because Grant's deal was "shortened" they get 0 for him. I guess Nichols is possible but this formula is pretty complex

I have no idea how PFF can kill him as a run blocker and ESPN can celebrate him as a run blocker.

They are watching the same film.

There are playing time things built into it, but at its base it comes down to contract value.

Nichols AAV is 5.5 million. He will count.

Ogun-Daniels

Patrick-Nichols

Grant does not count because he voided his contract and Morrow probably will not make enough to make the 7th round cut off this year.

We need Hicks, Dalton, and Ifedi to clear 3 million to protect the Robinson pick.

Hicks won't qualify because he's been released.  Also, need Robinson to clear ~$15M to get a comp pick for him, otherwise it'd be negated by the Ogunjobi signing.

Hicks wasn't released... Goldman was.

Yes, Robinson needs to clear 15 million, which I think he is going to pretty easily.

I think that just goes with the subjectivity of watching film.  LIS, he's not going to do anything to lose you a game, but he's also not going to win you games.  It's a solid deal, I would have no issues with it.  The Packers just have some young IOL they like, and they're pushed up against the salary cap.

I agree. Patrick sets a floor for the OL, not the ceiling. He ensures you do not have to play a waste of space like Mustipher.

Sounds like an average starter, on a deal reflective of average starter ability. I’m totally good with that. Appreciate the input.
