The NFL is a business. Players understand that it is a business. So long as each guy gets theirs, nobody is going to say ****.

Rodgers signed the damn contract. Rodgers can live with the damn contract.

Rodgers is part of the union that signed the CBA that agreed to the Franchise Tag. Rodgers can play on the Franchise Tag.

Do you have brain damage? Again with the Billionaires thing.

I see we've touched a nerve.

This new CBA also sees a big - and needed - increase in the NFL salary cap. Currently the NFL makes way more money than other sports like MLB. Yet they have regularly had payrolls lower than what MLB teams have. Sure the rosters are bigger (53 to 40) but considering the income the league has we should see a cap around $300m within the next few seasons. It might not get that high but players are about to get paid big.

Throw in the fact that this is a 5 year deal for about 170m (I don't have the numbers in front of me right now), and yeah this is below market value, especially considering he was already owed 27m this season. As a 2 year deal it's egregious, but this will ultimately be spread out as much as possible so we have a legitimate shot at a championship the next two-three seasons.

This isn't baseball, the billionaires thing is just dumb, dilutes your point. NFL owners all spend cash, even the ones with crappy teams. When it comes to the Packers, Rodgers probably has a greater net worth than everyone involved with his contract combined.

That is valid, but the billionaires in this sport do need to pay a higher percentage of payroll than the cap has allowed..which we're seeing with these projected cap increases and the way teams are spending this offseason. It's either every GM got stupid real quick or they know that these will be bargain values in 2-3 seasons as players get their due.

Why would anyone conclude it's a 2yr deal? It's pretty obviously a 3yr deal.

Agreed, he has the option to retire after two without his third season being guaranteed, but should he want to play three he's given up all his leverage to get out of it. Heck if he wants to play beyond that he has run out of leverage too, he's stuck here until he retires now.

Amazing how many of you would walk away at a great chance to win a SB.

Different Coaches, Different Defenses, Different Special Teams, Different WRs, Same QB. Ten years without a ring. It's almost like the single consistent element of this team is the problem - and he's back, on a non-reduced contract, and you think we have "a great chance" to win the Superbowl.

Literally nothing about this supports that conclusion.

Exactly correct.  Ol Rodg has sucked for a dozen year post season, why would anyone expect him to be better at age 39 with a vault full of Packer cash?   He left 3 TD's on the field that were just sitting there waiting to be made against the Bucs a year ago and he looked half asleep this year against the 9'ers.  One thing is for sure, we're not running Frenchy's offense, it's going to be more of the same.  The jolly Rodger offense.

Baseball season runs from March through October. Basketball season runs from October thru June. Football runs from August thru Jan.

162 games (25 people on roster)

82 games (15 people on roster)

17 games. (53 people on roster)

All three sports have one thing in common, the top 10 - 20% get paid really well, the rest don't, comparatively speaking.

Please don't give me the 'he's stuck here.' He was stuck here last year until they capitulated and redid his deal. He was under contract through 2024.

The Packers FO blew it big time.

We've been trying for a decade and have come up empty ... why would anything be different this year, or the next, or the next?

This is an almost unfathomably dumb argument.

There is no control element that can confirm why we won't win a SB with this team. It is a sport, played by humans, with elements of randomness that are impossible to quantity.

All you can do is get the best players, and the best coaches, and try to win.

Any argument built on the premise of "well it hasn't happened before so it can't possibly happen" is textbook strawman.

Imagine if the Broncos didn't trade for Peyton because he only won the super bowl once? Hindsight is 20/20, but they decided to go for it with the HOF QB and were rewarded. It doesn't always work, but put me in the camp of trying for it when you have that shot.

He's still the best shot we have to win, period. This new deal is as much about Love. This is the Packers telling us all...we don't think Love is the future here. Otherwise, this deal never happens.

Yep... the derangement syndrome people have against this guy is unreal.

It's a sport – a freaking SPORT – and he's allowed to go make as much bread as he and his agent can squeeze out of his employer over a short period of time. It's literally meaningless entertainment and grown *** men on here complain like they're emotionally invested in the BS drama on the Kardashians, kinda sad but hilarious at the same time.

Lol, the kettle calling the pot black. Kind of showed your own derangement with this silly posting. Now don't forget the Rodgers Worshippers Club meeting is at 7PM tonight and it's your turn to bring the muffins.

Lol at people saying it gives us the best chance of winning.

That literally does not add up.

Since 2010, we have not won a Super Bowl. Literally any QB could have won as many or more Super Bowls as Rodgers since then on this team.

We say every single year we just needed special teams, better coach, better defense…

There has been one constant to choking in the playoffs and we just gave him 50 million dollars worth of motivation to not change that.

How many times have we given Rodgers the most money ever?
