Packers were willing to trade 2 2nd round picks and honestly the next team behind the Vikings would've took that trade. So Watson was going to be a Packer regardless. Lions trade I'm more upset about.

Correct. The Vikings completely took advantage of the Packers....

Okay, now who has all panned out in the last 10 years? When the data is actually relevant? Theilen, sure. But it is few and far in between.

Ok . . . I love stats!   Roughly 500 men have played in the last 10 Super Bowls . . . A very small percentage are small school skill position guys . . . Some have rings.   Watson could get one as a rookie . . . And I'd be peeved it it happened . . . On all kinds of levels.

What I hope is happening us the Vikes get guys that mesh, provide a synergy and help carry each other to rings of their own.

Im not hating to hate. Outside of the Booth pick. What has he done this draft to make you confident the VIkings are closer to a Super Bowl?

I don’t think a single player available at 12 would have made me confident we were “closer” to a Super Bowl more than Cine.

That being said, there wasn’t a player in any of these other rounds.

Agreed.
it was either we draft Watson at #34, get both GB 2nd round picks or let GB get Watson at #35 or #36 (via trade).

A healthy Jameson Williams as a 3rd WR next to AT/JJ wouldnt make you feel like the Vikings could have a top 5 offense this year?

Super Bowl?

It’s going to be a challenge to make the playoffs even if they nailed the #12 pick with a non-QB

Sure it could, but also helping out a defense with two top 32 prospects probably helps me feel closer to a Super Bowl.

Williams is who I did want. But at some point you still have to find some players at other positions.

Exactly.

Honestly, at the end of the day, it was probably better for our team to probably try and fill in our weaknesses to even have a shot.

We honestly have no idea what this team will look like. Completely new offense and Defense. I’ll give them a benefit of the doubt this year and let them do what they want and can.

I partly agree with this, along with drafting QB’s until you have two you think “could” at least be starters in the NFL.

Absolutely, however IMO if you don't have a QB you're comfortable with Im taking one in the first 3 rounds every year until Im comfortable.

My draft strategy would be different from most assuming the QB situation is fine.  Im taking a WR, OL & either a CB or DL every year in the first 4 rounds reguardless.  I just feel those are always positions of need where depth is never a bad thing and can also prevent you from having to spend premium money unless a player truly deserves it and not just because you have to.

I've said it before, but Christian Watson is not worth being scared over. Small school skill positions just don't translate ever. He will only find relative success because of who his quarterback is, and not because of the player he will be. And there is no reason to be worried about a 4th round rookie, either.

Yeah, these guys don't ever translate.

Adam Thielen out of Mankato State must have had some dirt on Spielman. He didn't deserve to be on an NFL team.

Cooper Kupp didn't translate from the FCS very well either.

And it sure would have sucked if the Vikings drafted Jerry Rice out of college.

They don't EVER translate.
