Owner must have just watched moneyball or something.   But then ignored it anyway, lol.

Jimmy Haslem was too busy dodging prison and the feds. By his own admission he meddled and trumped the FO several times. He’s one of the worst things to ever happen to pro sports in Cleveland, and that’s saying something.

Can't say that I'm thrilled with this thread, if I'm being honest. Seems like a troll job on browns fans

Browns front office has been trolling Browns fans for decades.

The new Browns own all of that history.

Yep.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_Browns_relocation_controversy

Subsequent legal actions by the city of Cleveland and Browns season ticket holders led the NFL to broker a compromise that saw the Browns franchise, history, records, and intellectual property remain in Cleveland. In return, Modell was permitted to establish a new franchise in Baltimore, which was eventually named the Ravens.

Since it was deemed infeasible for the Browns to play the 1996 season in Cleveland under such circumstances, the franchise was officially deactivated by the NFL in February 1996 and Modell was allowed to transfer its football organization to the Ravens: thus, the Ravens are officially regarded by the NFL as an expansion team that began play in 1996.

Yup. And they still have the lineage of those franchises. Earl Campbell is in the Tennessee Titans record books. Johnny Unitas is still a Colt.

This compromise, which was unprecedented in North American professional sports at the time, has since been cited in franchise moves and agreements in other leagues, including ones in Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the National Basketball Association, and the National Hockey League.

From the quoted article. You can’t name another in football because it’s literally the precedent.

The Oilers to Tennessee.

The Colts to Indianapolis.

Yup. Warren Moon never played a single down in Tennessee. None of his accolades belong to the Texans. Ditto with Earl Campbell, Robert Brazille, Mike Munchak, Bruce Matthews…

I’d love to celebrate these guys with the Texans, but these guys have nothing in relation to this franchise.

Cleveland is the sole outlier to this rule. And that was a specific response.

I guess my response/our response was the opposite of what he was asking. 😂

#1, the Browns have been awful forever and they finally get a good team to build around, they make the big play for the win-now QB, put all their eggs in that basket and apparently the basket is a creep

Also #2, while Manziel was terrible its not like they passed on Big Ben for Manziel. Teddy would've been fine but just doesnt have that elite level sting

Why not "the most that's so Lions moment ever"?

Jaguars?

Why not? Do it.  Do the Bears.  Do whoever.

Browns for a long time were the bees knees under Brown.

Most franchises have bad eras and good.

It’s okay to make fun of teams on a bad stretch.  Don’t be so sensitive.
