We definitely need to draft an athletic LB who can cover or we're cooked.

LB is hard right now. Hard to find an athletic sideline to sideline LB that is able to take on blocks and want to get physical at the point of attack. You're seeing YPC averages go up because these undersized athletes are getting crushed in run defense. Guys are busting left and right at LB.

Such a hard position to evaluate currently in the NFL.

After Sanders, there is a major drop off in talent imo.

Daiyan Henley might be that guy for me at 2 as I've watched more of him. Has the demeanor. Needs to get bigger.

Henley is pretty good. Sanders is as well. I haven't watched as much this year, but I would take a flyer on a pure RAS guy with one of our late round picks as well.

Thought he was a downhill thumper that struggled in coverage?

Really productive LB that’s flashed some pass rush skills. Ridiculously strong and has good instincts. Speed was a concern but ran a 4.5 on his pro day.

The roster before and after Ziegler spent $55M in cap space:

You are not going to turn your team around in one offseason free agency period especially with the horrible drafting we have had over the years. I know it can be tempting since it is the only thing going on and waiting to see what the raiders are doing but sometimes patients is the way to go. The bears have spent big money and they have a young qb but they wont be factor in their division let alone the NFC. I know we have holes but that doesn't mean go sign guys for whatever they are asking for no matter who they are just bc they play a certain position. The draft will shape the roster much more than this free agency period.

You're obviously not going to completely change the team in one off-season but we're in year 2 of their vision and they've gone through two free agency periods without making any real, significant upgrades. We spent big in free agency as well, IIRC we've actually spent more than they have, you just can't tell because the roster looks exactly the same.

What will the excuses be next year? Even Mark said that Ziegler is in over his head.
