OL Isaiah Wynn signs with Miami Dolphins (1y)

He can be a good player at the right position, with the right team. I think Miami could work. Patriots stubbornly used him at Tackle in a power running scheme, which never made any sense to me. Still, he showed he could do well in glimpses. Miami would be smart to play him on the interior.

He was atrocious last season, and was switched to a new position on the fly and handled it like a pro. But I think there's certainly a parallel to how atrocious the Patriots offense was as a whole there.

Why? He’s bad and misses lots of games.

This is a good riddance signing, all things considered.

Starting experience, positional versatility, lack of a quality FA market at the position - if a guy like Andre Dillard can get 3/$29mm or a guy like 33 year old Kelvin Beachum can get 2/$8, there’s a multi year deal to be had for Wynn.

Perceived positional versatility, maybe. He hasn’t played any guard in his 5 year career.

The Chiefs just grabbed Donovan Smith, who, while older, is probably a better tackle at this point than Wynn is. At least with Dillard you hope he can show you something after not having been on the field, Wynn’s got a mix of giving up sacks + getting nicked up + giving up penalties.

Dude wants to play on the prove it deal to earn his dollars in 2024, that’s why he’s not signing longer term. His value on a long term deal is nonexistent from the player perspective.

Some players actually value 1-year deals, betting on themselves to increase their potential payday the season after.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Wynn denied some 2-year or even 3-year deals to take this one to try to get a big contract next offseason.
