And there goes Sherman to the 49ers...3 years near $40 million.

dude turns 30 later this month, is coming off an achilles tear and clean up on his other achilles. those are worse than acl's to come back from.

AND he just got paid 13/year. no thanks

At what point can we raise our expectations?

We should absolutely expect the Bears to want to sign guys like ARob and Watkins when there is a clear need there and we should hope they do their best selling job and put forth their best contract offer to get it done, but at the end of the day these players may choose to sign with another team for less $ due to other factors, ex. See AJ Bouye last off-season.

Would you really blame Pace if Robinson wanted to sign with 49ers over Bears for similar money because he feels that Garoppolo and Shanahan are more proven than Trubisky and Nagy?

Or if Watkins resigns in LA? How will you blame him then?

We all want these guys to sign with Bears but nothing is a given with 31 other teams competing for the same FAs.

The Browns trade Kizer to GB for damarious Randall. The teams also swap picks in both the fourth and fifth rounds. What is cleveland doing, and what is GB doing?

Judging by what we know Cleveland wins this deal IMO. Really weird that GB would trade a need position for one that's not and for a QB who looked shaky AF in 2017.

ik this is the prevailing narrative, buuuutt... Trubisky has started more games than Garrappolo, and the 9ers coaching staff outside of Shanahan has far less positive experience than the Bears coaching staff.  The things that 49ers have going for them over the Bears: they have a WR on the roster who has a good season last year.  Thats it.  You cant say Jimmy G is more proven when he literally has played less in 5 years than than Trubisky has as a rookie.  The 9ers assistant staff, as we discussed in the Bears assistant thread weeks ago is terrible.  Shanahan has 1 more year of hc experience than Matt Nagy who has none and won one more game last year than the Bears did under John Fox.  Ik everybody loves them some 9ers right now, but to call them more proven than the Bears is a laughable overstatement.

The one thing the 49ers did was win 5 games in a row with Jimmy G at QB. Which the Bears didn't do with Trubisky. The Bears can improve but they need to improve at WR,LB and CB. The problem is they are weak on defense at the hardest position to find which is outside pass rusher. They had under 50% of their sacks off the edge last year.

Again they won 1 more game than the Bears for the entire year.  Doesnt matter when the games were won.  Oh and that 5 games in a row includes a win against the Bears w/o a td, where the Bears led the whole game until the last second.  Sorry but the 9er hype is pretty ridiculous at this point. You would think they won 5 games in a row by 30 points in dominating fashion with nothing but high school washouts and jimmy g.

This is a good point.

The Jacksonville win was legit, but the Rams were resting all of their starters (offensive DNP included Goff, Gurley, Kupp, Watkins & Woods), HOU with no Watson, the Fox/Loggains Bears has that game won before Foxing it in the 4th quarter, and squeaking by an underachieving TEN team. 100% agree there’s reason for optimism in SF but people talk about them like it’s a foregone conclusion they’re the next dynasty.

I think we are going to land Allen Robinson. I am weirdly confident that with his back to the wall a little Pace is going to have a strong showing with offensive free agents.

He has too much invested in Trubisky and Nagy at this point.

If we come out of the first day of FA with Robinson, Wilson & a defensive linemen I would be over the moon.

The only reservations I could see is that Robinson and Meredith are both coming off torn knee ligaments and Kevin White can't stay healthy. God forbid they get hurt again, Pace will be lambasted in the city.
