Do you think the Bills current window is closed?

I wonder if Bills fans would entertain the idea of getting Greg Roman back as a run-game coordinator/specialist. Like Alex Gibbs was for the Broncos for many years. But then I don't know who would be OC next season, and how that would mesh with Roman in the building. They need to improve the philosophy of their run game though.

Jim Harbaugh as HC

Greg Roman as OC

🤷‍♂️

Ehhh idk if that’s true. There has to be talent littered across the roster as well. Luckily for Buffalo, they have enough around Allen.

They don’t have a consistent run game and it’s forced Allen to play hero ball. Idk how you rectify that. I don’t think you can in short order. They aren’t winning anything until they can run the football efficiently.

I think the point is it’s easier to add talent at most other positions than it is to find an elite QB.

Invest some draft capital in the OL, grab a nice RB, bring in someone (coach) who can scheme things up in the run game, etc.

The Bills' offense is entirely dependent on big chunk plays. They'll hit a 30 yard bomb to Diggs over the middle only to completely sputter out between the 40s. Honestly, if Buffalo just ran the ball more so Josh doesn't feel like he needs to sustain drives all by himself, they would be the most dangerous team in the AFC. When that team is clicking and the run game is going and Josh looks like a demigod of football there are 2 or 3 teams that I would give a chance against them.

I wasn't sure before, but now I'm leaning toward yes. The Eagles game, where the Bills dictated the pace early and had so much more on the line than their opponents, was one they absolutely should have put away. They couldn't do it.

All signs point to them being a slightly better version of the Titans: a team that was truly dangerous for one year, but merely solid before and after.

No. I think the Bills still have a chance to get it together this season.

AFC not that strong.

So the team that is 6-6 is making the playoffs and winning multiple playoff games? Based on what exactly?

They need a soft reset - unfortunately in most cases the easiest way to get that is by firing the coach.

Alternatively they just tell McDermott he needs to change a lot and see how he takes it.

I think he’ll have to hire a DC for 2024 so that he can focus sorely on HC and in game management.

My hope is a fresh voice from outside the organization.

No matter who the OC has been that story seems to be similar. Daboll *seemed* to have more success, but the run game was never great.

I agree about the DC, but it seems like they need an overhaul offensively just as much. Not sure if that's philosophy or what, but relying on Josh Allen to be perfect isn't a sustainable offense.

I think part of that is the personnel too - coaches get attached to players and you end up winning a lot of games but never take a real hard look at everything. That needs to happen to get better offensively  I think

Multiple playoff games I’d say almost definitely not, but the 6-6 thing isn’t really as much a detractor as you’d think.

Two of the wildcards only have one more win (Pittsburgh/Cleveland at 7), one of the wildcards has the same number of wins (Indy at 6), and all three are starting backup QBs (or at least backup caliber, in Pickett’s case). Houston and Denver are in the hunt with 6 wins too, but it’s not like being 6-6 is some sort of nail in the coffin. Buffalo’s playoff hopes are far from dead.

How much noise they’re going to make in the postseason? Ehhh…that’s another story. Although with a QB like Josh, you always have a puncher’s chance. Would it be a shock if Buffalo knocked out Miami or Jacksonville in the first round, though? Not really. I wouldn’t put money down on it, but it wouldn’t floor me.

I believe In order to make the playoffs, Buffalo is going to have to win out(11 wins) and there is zero evidence that this Bills team is capable of that this year. They are literally in the midst of a collapse as we speak(1-3 in their last 4 games). Those playoff hopes will be officially dead in a week or 2 when they lose to both KC and Dallas or at best split.

But let’s say they pull a miracle and make it in. Would Beating Miami/Jacksonville in the first round really disprove this thread? They are not superbowl contenders.

You think the 7th seed finishes with 11 wins? How many times in NFL history has the bottom seed in a conference had 11 wins? Or even 10?

That’s a stretch.
