Do you think the Bills current window is closed?

Yet I'm assuming your Ravens, the Chiefs, Eagles and Bengals windows are still open despite thier QB's contracts?

Roster building is import. His contract like teams listed above isn't stopping that from occurring in Buffalo.  An incompetent GM/HC not being able too, will.

Correct - i Think the way Buffalo constructed their roster worked with rookie deal JFA. Now that he's mega money JFA those failed draft classes and aging veterans are only holding them back. They need a complete re-tool and idk if I trust them to do that like I do with Baltimore, KC and Philly.

KC even is struggling but because their HC/QB combo is elite they're doing just enough.

Maybe I'm looking at the phrase "Window closed" a different way? I here that I get the impression it can't be reopened down the line!

There's is a difference from a complete rebuild, complete tear down and retooling. Retooling can happen within a year or two. The Bills have a FQB which is the hardest thing to find in the NFL.

So while the window might be closing on this version of the Bills it is always open because of JFA IMO and it's on the GM/HC to surround him with talent moving forward. I have no idea if Brandon Beane and or Sean McDermott is up for the task. 🤷‍♂️

No, it's not closed until Josh can't play hero ball anymore. This is one of the worst offensive schemes I've seen, but it all stays afloat because of Josh Allen. The moment he loses his arm strength and legs, the Bills are toast.

This is an incredibly volatile team and will win games they shouldn't and lose games they shouldn't. But Allen is still elite and could conceivably carry this team to the Super Bowl.

They'll be the 6th or 7th seed this year with 10 wins, but they'll still be a very tough matchup in the playoffs.

Vs Jets, @ Eagles, @ Chiefs, vs Cowboys, @ Chargers, vs Patriots, @ Dolphins. You think there are 5 wins there?

If you have a franchise QB, your window is open until you don't have one anymore.

Ehhh idk if that’s true. There has to be talent littered across the roster as well. Luckily for Buffalo, they have enough around Allen.

They don’t have a consistent run game and it’s forced Allen to play hero ball. Idk how you rectify that. I don’t think you can in short order. They aren’t winning anything until they can run the football efficiently.

Its certainly true if he's in the 1-8 range. You at least have a shot every season.

No, I don't think so. Even with this current group of players, and McDermott as HC they can stay in contention for a couple of seasons at worst. It really depends on the organization being able to reload moving forward. That's for any seemingly legit contender that hasn't won it all yet. The 49ers are in the same boat, and have the 4th oldest roster. They'll have to find a way to replenish players. Especially if Purdy makes it to a second, more lucrative contract.

5-5 looks bad for the Bills, especially with the looming schedule. But if they can simply get into the playoffs they'll be a dangerous squad with Allen at QB. He's in a bit of a funk recently with the turnovers, but that's just his style of play as a gunslinger-type. Homeslice can easily go on a run of dominance for a stretch. Now isn't panic time, even for this season let alone the next couple of years. And like I said in the other thread, I don't know if firing Dorsey was the right move.

I wonder if Bills fans would entertain the idea of getting Greg Roman back as a run-game coordinator/specialist. Like Alex Gibbs was for the Broncos for many years. But then I don't know who would be OC next season, and how that would mesh with Roman in the building. They need to improve the philosophy of their run game though.

No the Bills window isnt close. They have to tweak some things to get back on track.

Let me ask you who think the Bills window is close, did you think the Rams window was close after the 2018 Superbowl? Im sure most did. In 2019 they went (9-7) and completely missed the playoffs. They came back in 2020 and got in as a wildcard team and beat the Seahawks in the wildcard round in Seattle but lost to the Packers in the divisional round. Now they had to make a few changes from 2019 to 2020 to go from missing the playoffs to getting to the divisional round. Getting healthy was one of them, they hired Brandon Staley to coach the defense that was #1 in 2020 and they drafted Cam Akers who was a huge reason for the Rams success on offense in 2020 mainly in the 2nd half of the season and in the playoffs. But even then the Rams werent done tweaking bc from 2020 to 2021 they made more moves that ended up with them winning the Superbowl.

So with the Bills their window isnt close. They have to tweak some things but I see no reason why they cant be back to being strong contenders next season even if they miss the playoffs this season. First it starts with getting healthy on defense then even if it means to fire McDermott thats what they might have to do. Which honestly if they could somehow bring back Daboll to be the head coach that would be the best case scenario. Allen was at his best with Daboll. Now that more than likely wont happen this soon if not at all but it should be on the board for the Bills and even Daboll. Daboll is in a situation where he is stuck with Jones and a Giants team that reached their absolute best ceiling last season. So he should be wanting to run for the hills as fast as he could if possible. And if the Bills coaching position opens up then that should be where he should want to go.

Allen has to be better with the football. I dont freak out when guys turn the ball over bc I dont believe every turnover is equal. He just has to know when to take the risk and when not too. Its just like on the flipside, ARod dont take many risk thus he dont turn the ball over much. But in the same breath it doesnt benefit his team or else he would have more success in terms of getting to Superbowls and winning than he has. Feels like the deeper the Packers went into the playoffs the more scared ARod got to take some risks and it cost them every time.
