Roquan didn’t want to be there and was using friends to call teams about contract deals to avoid tampering lol. He’s a previous regime guy on top of that, and it’s well known teams cleanse rosters by getti mg rid of old players, even good ones

He didn’t want to be there only after the Bears made it clear they weren’t going to pay him what he wanted. Only for them to sign Tremaine Edmunds, a worse player, only $2M AAV less. They should’ve just paid Roquan what he requested from Chicago.

Rapaport reports whatever the agent tells him or else he won't get more insider tips.

Oh I'm not bashing them.  Just find it amusing, which is why I always wait to hear the final numbers and structure before making an opinion on any contracts.

If they don't get an extension done, it'll be on par with the Chase Claypool trade.  Imagine giving up a high SRP only to see that player walk.  And as good as the franchise tag sounds, there's also Jaylon Johnson to be worried about leaving.

Why wouldn't they get the deal done.

"Next Gen stat of the game: In his Bears debut, Montez Sweat generated a team-high four pressures on 25 pass rushes, generating a 16.0% pressure rate and a 2.73-second average time to pressure."

This could move the needle for them. Instead of going 2-15, they'll finish strong at 3-14! 😤

Hey, my take was right! Sweats addition has been the catalyst, and the Bears have a top 5 if not the best defense in the league since week 9. But, his addition also did not move the needle egregiously, they still have a top 10  pick, because an EDGE can only do so much.

they might have been too good though, so maybe some of you were right, Eberflus looks to be keeping his job. But if he continues to coach an elite defense then keeping him is likely the right move.

Suck it haters, this was a good trade and a clear win for Chicago.

Everyone knew he was a good player and the draft pick hasn't materialized yet.

What is more important is that the Bears have won a few games and seem to be sticking with Fields and Eberflus, which is exactly what the doubters were worried would happen. They've played themselves out of position to get both a QB and top end WR in the draft. They signed him to a HUGE deal (which he's worth) and also had to give up a high pick in order to do it.

We'll have to see how they fare over the next couple of years before we know if it was a win. Right now you're comparing Sweat vs. nothing instead of Sweat vs. a pick and big guaranteed contract.
