Granted, Mullens also has over 650 pass attempts to go with 17 starts. Regardless, you're probably not winning many games with either one starting for you. Probably not...but, if you're looking for a guy who's more of a passer, that's Mullens. If you like the QBs ability to run, that's Dobbs. That's the clear difference between the 2. Comparatively though, there isn't much else of a difference because they both turnover the ball quite a bit. Mullens has basically a full season of starting under his belt and has 9 more INTs than Kirk had all of last year and 6 less TDs. Fields is in the final season of his $19 million rookie contract and if the Vikings trade for him, they will also acquire fifth-year team option to keep Fields salary-controlled through 2025. Frankly, he's not worth more than a 4th round pick, which is what San Francisco got for Trey Lance. Whether or not he's salvageable or not is the biggest question. Salvageable into being a capable starting QB? Probably. Especially with a coach like O'Connell, who does a tremendous job at scheming receivers open. I can't imagine that Chicago would even entertain the idea of trading Fields to any NFCN team unless that team was offering substantially more than every other team. Justin Fields in 810 career passing attempts is completing 61% of his passes with a 1.33 TD/INT ratio. And he adds an additional 56.1 yards per game on the ground. And unlike Trey Lance, Fields has actually shown some progression. He's got a LOT to clean up, but Fields has shown more than Lance did. Indeed, he likely should’ve started Mullens to begin with, but tip of the cap for pulling the plug just in time. It’s okay to remember Dobbs favorably for his performances against the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints a month ago — while hoping he never starts for the Vikings again. Often, career-long backups spring up and dazzle for a game or two before plummeting back to earth. That’s what happened with Dobbs. Plain and simple.
