Russell Wilson was bad and the Broncos should feel bad

The crazy part - he’s just as limited as he was last year.   Only 3 differences - first, Sean Payton is coaching strong game plans to limit his weaknesses.

Next, the run game is so much better with Javonte Williams back and Jaleel McLaughlin as the backup.  Last year after we lost Javonte Williams we had MG3 & Latavius Murray as our RB’s.    And our OL has been stellar in the run game.

The final difference is that Wilson’s prayer balls that didn’t get caught or got picked last year are falling into DEN hands (or going incomplete instead of being picked).  WAS Hail Mary, the last 2 Sutton TD’s are good examples.

Jets and Broncos fans will attest to how bad Nathaniel Hackett is as an OC.  Bottom 3 if not the worst now that Matt Canada gone (Pete Carmichael & BOB are in the mix).   But none of that changes what Russell Wilson can’t do anymore.   It’s just how much can you limit the weaknesses and so far Sean Payton’s done a good job.   Hopefully enough that we can move on next offseason.

No, because he was as awful as everyone said last year, and he's still not good this year. That offense is still very visibly restricted by his limitations. His yards per completion are like 2 yards lower than his career average, and is dead even with Kenny Pickett. My comparison for him has been 2016 Sam Bradford. It's just working because they've had an insane amount of drives start in plus territory or close to it in these past three games, and the defense has been fantastic. Like 6 of their drives against Buffalo started further than the 45 yard line. They had two drives start in Buffalo territory where they still didn't score points. 5 drives in the KC game, and they again still failed to score on one of them. 0 points on drives that did not start in KC territory. I beg people to actually watch these games, and not just be like oh, Russ is completing a lot of passes, they're winning now, we must have been wrong all along. Russ is still grossly overpaid, and still not great, they're just winning Pittsburgh Steelers style right now, and he's completing a ton of passes to RBs.

Yes I said earlier while Payton was getting trashed he's still a great offensive mind, and I'd be surprised if he can't get most of whatever potential Russ has left.

Russ has had a Top 15 QB season, but it could easily just be a combination of 1) Payton severely masking his weaknesses 2) He got into better playing shape. He was fat last year.

I think more than getting less fat, or Payton "masking" things...the upswing is probably just a product of getting more comfortable in the new situation...and specifically, realizing that Sutton is a beast and can be his "chuck it up and he'll go get it" guy in Denver, even though he doesn't have the typical profile of a Danger Russ "go to guy" receiver.  And frankly, i think part of that is just down to Sutton himself, working really hard to adapt himself to what Russell needs out of him.  Rather than just playing like your classic big muscly tall ball receiver.
