It's impressive indeed, though, at this point in time not too much longer, it's mainly that there will be a feeding basically at bed time, which means that we end up having to start earlier.

BTW: just when you think you have the schedule down pat, they'll change it up on you.

Then there's teething.

Got a kickstarter yesterday, the game is Hanamikoji. It's one that's been out for a bit, but it's a fast two player game. What I got with it was a lot of promo cards for it, but mainly an amazing play mat for it, the artwork on it is just really well done, and the play mat was really well put together.

The Tainted Grail Kickstarter has so many ups and downs with people complaining about it, but then it's doing extremely well funding wise. I have to say, the newest add-on that they just added to it shows how good that Awaken Realms does. Basically adding in a very cheap add-on for additional backstory things for each character and legendary action cards is really cool. This is going to be a game that I wait very impatiently for.

I finally played Fiasco in a group of 4. It was a great time. We played the Dirt People setup.

I ended up being a casino gift shop worker that needed to impress his habitual criminal of a father (played by my buddy)

my wife played a stripper that worked at the casino and was also my AA sponsor. We had some pretty incredible scenes. My buddies wife played my GF who was trying to find a way to kill me to get with my dad (played by her hubby) she ended up setting me up in a failed robbery in which I died and she ran off with my father.

Everyone did full fleshed out characters and gave them dirt people accents and everything. we had to stop the game for uncontrollable laughter a couple times.

Took about 2 hours, we were quite drunk and probably got some rules wrong. But it can be an awkward game to jump in to for the first time, so drinking helps.

you can find setups and rules free on line if you wanted to try it. I bought the book cause I’m a sucker.

I know TableTop did a Fiasco version awhile back. Only problem was the length (had to chop it up into the "setup" and "actual play" segments). Seemed interesting.

Might need to get that for my better half. Been trying to convince her that roleplaying games will help her create characters (author, trying to get published). Hadn't thought of Fiasco, but that could work.

I think part of the motivation in its development was to aid writers in developing characters. I’m going to flesh out full fledged stories from the games we play

So Lady Fiona had her spy (can't remember his name. Ernst?) broke them out of the gallows and had them run to her house. Our barbarian got away but our dwarf got chased down by a guard. Our barbarian is a dragonborn so he tackled the guard away and blasted him with fire, scaring him away. Our warlock walked away invisibly. They snuck into Fiona's cellar.

Our tiefling followed Izek to the chaos, after Izek ran to it. He literally blasted his way out of the Baron's house and ran to it. Izek let him flee with a good charisma check and found the rest of the party.

Fiona housed them for the night and got back their weapons in the morning. Then, assuming the enemy of her enemy (the Baron) was her friend, she tried to convert them to her cause. She brought the group to her hidden basement room and asked the group to join her in taking down the Baron and welcoming Strahd into to their lives. A fight ensued.

She summoned an army of skeletons and a mess of swarming devils and tried to escape. But they were defeated as she tried to leave the room. She was dropped to four HP before giving up. The party took some serious damage but they're all still standing. That's where we left off.

I plan on unleashing the imp with a sneak attack in our next session. He should drop our bard, who's blocking the door. After that, I don't know what's gonna happen.

Forgot to come back here. We played Twlight Imperium for 7 hours - took nearly an hour to get set up, reminder of rules, etc (if you will recall, it was 5 first timers).

I had a lot of fun with it, but it was SO much to remember. There were things I could have added to my turns that I just did not remember (action cards for turns, moving and then attacking, etc.) Also, there is so much open for interpretation. Seems like you all just agree with how it should look and move on.

We didn't get too far either. I think the scores were like 4,3,3,2,2 but it did move a lot more quickly and smoothly as we went along. Would love to play again.

Fiasco is a TON of fun, but it really requires people who can be creative storytellers and to have a bigger picture of what you are trying to accomplish in the story.

I have played phenomenal games, and I have played games that were a MAJOR struggle.

Yep. My buddies wife took a bit of a warmup before she was really understanding the game. She was definitely an obstacle in the beginning. Lol

just not fully understanding improv and storytelling and more interested in promoting her character

Didn't play much in the way of board games on my time off. Was hoping to play more, but had Gloomhaven fall through, which was okay because the weather got rough that day. I did play The Mind on New Years Eve. It's a game where you play in silence and try and play cards in the right order, lowest to highest. It's less a game, really, and more an activity because it's really just luck, but it goes fast, so you feel fine playing it a few times as you fail. I have heard of people getting really into it to see how good they can do, but that seems like it would take the fun of the activity out of it, it's just meant to be simple and silly.
