This is NBC's fault for not giving NFL teams incentive to hire Freeman away from ND last winter, namely hosting rights to the first SNF game of the season. He should have been just the interim coach for the Fiesta Bowl three years ago. He got promoted to the full-time position without ever getting a chance to cut his teeth on a G5 program like Kelly did (though at the time it was called non-AQ). Perhaps this is the time ND realizes Freeman is not working out. If he had coached just that Fiesta Bowl, we'd probably be looking at the third season of the Urban Meyer era at ND.
