Tom Pelissero: The Seahawks are deep in talks to acquire franchise player Jadeveon Clowney from the Texans. Clowney has told people he wants to be in Seattle. Still some hoops to jump through, but it’s headed toward him getting his wish.

Interesting.

Schneider bringing in Clowney certainly would make things more interesting out West.

Can we stop sending the top AFC pass rushers to the NFC? Damnit.

Dee Ford, Frank Clark, Chandler Jones, Clowney, Khalil Mack.

All top end pass rushers recently traded.

Rule changes are making EDGE rush less important than interior pass rush.  I shouldn't say less important, but the scales are changing rapidly from where that difference was at before.    That's one reason why I'm glad we've got Pettine, Gary, and Z. Smith.

These trades are kinda showing that.  When would premier pass rushers have been traded in past NFL seasons?  It never really happened.  Now, as TOT pointed out, Ford, Clark, Jones, Clowney, Mack...

And the Bears paid the highest price since they got the trend started.

If the Seahawks traded any offensive linemen for Clowney, it's a cutting off your nose to spite your face type of move.

I wanted to say Schneider>Gute as a joke but his drafting blows goats since the drunken master left

Just think if we had Gute and Schneider. One for the draft one for trades.

is co GM a thing? Because we should aim for that.

Just think we had Ted, Gute, Schneider, and Dorsey at once.

Adam Schefter: Here's the news Dallas has wanted: Talks between the Cowboys and RB Ezekiel Elliott are intensifying, with both sides aiming to wrap up a new deal this weekend.

(It's the old "Just got off the phone with LeSean" negotiating ploy)

Clowney was traded for only a third round pick because the Texans weren't re-signing him and they chose to get a 3rd round pick for him now rather than a third round pick for him next year as a compensatory pick.

The Seahawks also cannot re-sign Clowney.  Can't even technically negotiate with Clowney.
