By skipping training camp and the first two weeks of the season, Trent Williams now owes the Redskins $743,000 of pro-ration from his signing bonus. Williams also likely has accrued $1.2 million in fines -- $40,000 a day for 30 days of missed training camp.

The Redskins refused comment, but league sources told ESPN that Washington will not forgive the fines and will not give Williams a new deal.

Williams, therefore, finds himself in a challenging position. He also has a $150,000 workout de-escalator that kicked in and lowered his base salary from $11 million to $10.85 million. And, if that wasn't enough, Williams failed to cash in on $653,941 of salary by staying away from the Redskins.

As of now, Williams owes the Redskins almost $1.9 million in fines and signing-bonus pro-ration, and he has cost himself the opportunity to earn close to another $1 million.

Hope he sues the Redskins for ******* around in his cancer diagnosis.

Is that what its about? I've honestly not been following the story much at all. Only picked up it had something do with the medical staff.

My understanding:

It's always about more than one thing, but his side of it is basically that he had a growth on his head. He raised concerns to the Redskins doctors, they told him it was nothing during the season. Turned out to be non-malignant tumor/cyst/growth/thing, not immediately life threatening, but definitely not nothing. His doctors went ahead and removed it. He thinks the Skins doctors told him it was nothing, for fear that if they looked at it might be cancerous and he would miss games.

And before anyone expresses skepticism that the Redskins would do that, remember this is the team that sex-trafficked their own cheerleaders.

Thanks for the data.

Not calling him out, but I personally wouldnt leave a potential cancer diagnosis to some sports medicine / trainer guy and not absolving the sports medicine / trainer guy who actually gave him that diagnosis - or perhaps better described as "advice" - as opposed to telling him to go to a qualified specialist.

Also - I clearly need to get up to speed on a broader spectrum of NFL news - cause this is the first I've heard of this: the team that sex-trafficked their own cheerleaders.

Now there's a story! :)

You're underappreciating how expansive an NFL team's medical staff is. These guys aren't getting taken care of by fully licensed PHD carrying physicians on the athletic side. And the team employees several doctors including a General Practitioner and even a Dentist. While there probably isn't an Oncologist on staff, there sure as hell is one that a player can get to in 4 hours, especially in the DC area.

Well - to hear Trent Williams tell it - one of these highly qualified guys screwed up. Nothing against the medical staff - but if I'm dealing with cancer questions - I'm getting their input - and I'm not a multi-million dollar NFL player.

ESPN: Antonio Brown declined to sign a $2 million-plus agreement with Britney Taylor to settle a sexual assault allegation made by the wide receiver's former trainer, sources told ESPN's Jeff Darlington.

Brown had a deadline last Sunday night to sign the settlement agreement before Taylor's attorneys sought to file their civil lawsuit against him. After Brown didn't sign off on the settlement, the suit was filed Tuesday.
