The way this season is shaping up, with the injuries, for the long term good of the team, it would be better if they DON'T give up any more draft assets or young players to try to improve this season's win total, lose as many games as they will, being undermanned, and let Zimmer be fired, and hope that Spielman sees the light about the way The NFL has gone lately, and brings in a coach and coaching staff that can DEVELOP talent procured in the draft ON BOTH sides of the ball, and most importantly, USE THEM TO THE TEAM'S BEST ADVANTAGE TO WIN GAMES.  That means bringing in a NON-specialist offensive-minded coach, who also knows that BOTH sides of the ball are important, and he, in turn, brings in a defensive coordinator, who is a good developer of talent on the defensive side.  Spielman's drafting has been in the tier above average, but below the top rung.  However, Zimmer's coaching staff has been weak in player development in several areas.  It would be best to bring in a staff that has great college scouting, and works well with developing their skills in a much wider range of the team's player positions than Zimmer's staff has been.

I'm on board with this rough approach, coupled with my expectations, that at best, this is a one and done team (if everything goes well).  I would much rather if everything goes wrong (outside of a Cousins injury), and we really bottom out this season (with all these unrealistic expectations). Management is fire. A non-injured Cousins is traded in February and a new regime can figure out the QB spot and the next direction.

It means when the opponent's punt and kick returner has the ball he is one of the guys running up to tackle them.

So you’re saying he’s earned his spot by being a gunner on the team and something like that isn’t replaceable?

Got it.

Last year was the year to bottom out if we ever were going to let’s be real here.

Like what? I’ve seen that posted multiple times but people haven’t said what he does exactly.

And yes I would expect Ameer to be running ahead of a UDFA in preseason.

He plays on all phases of special teams, even when not returning.  He's had the 3rd most snaps on the unit for each of the last 2 years.
