If you think you have a roster that can compete for the playoffs or Super Bowl, then I think you bring Cam in. He's no longer an MVP candidate, but he can be a placeholder with upside over a 4-5 game stretch. If Cousins goes down and Browning or Mond have to play 5 games, 1-4 is probably the likely outcome with 2-3 being best case scenario. Newton, in my opinion, gives you a better chance to go 3-2 or 4-1, but 2-3 is likely his floor with this team.

This team is no where close to superbowl competitive.

If they go above 0.500 that is fortunate for the current management.

I'm legit concerned what 'win-now' trades Rick may be thinking of now, which likely have terrible consequences.

It's hard to tell how competitive this team will be. Pre-season isn't an indication of what the vets will do with an opened up offense and not running a vanilla defense, so much as it is an indication of talent evaluation with the guys further down the roster. Depth appears to be an issue though given injuries.

It's just that everyone seems to think that the team is all-in right now given the re-worked 1 year deals and splurge signings on the defense. Combine that with the apparent pressure on the FO/Zimm to get the team deep into the playoffs this season and there has been some expectations laid whether or not you or I think they're ready.

The way this season is shaping up, with the injuries, for the long term good of the team, it would be better if they DON'T give up any more draft assets or young players to try to improve this season's win total, lose as many games as they will, being undermanned, and let Zimmer be fired, and hope that Spielman sees the light about the way The NFL has gone lately, and brings in a coach and coaching staff that can DEVELOP talent procured in the draft ON BOTH sides of the ball, and most importantly, USE THEM TO THE TEAM'S BEST ADVANTAGE TO WIN GAMES.  That means bringing in a NON-specialist offensive-minded coach, who also knows that BOTH sides of the ball are important, and he, in turn, brings in a defensive coordinator, who is a good developer of talent on the defensive side.  Spielman's drafting has been in the tier above average, but below the top rung.  However, Zimmer's coaching staff has been weak in player development in several areas.  It would be best to bring in a staff that has great college scouting, and works well with developing their skills in a much wider range of the team's player positions than Zimmer's staff has been.

I don't think we know they aren't SB competitive (though KC and the Bills look dang tough)....they have a great RB, WR, DL, and probably DBs. They should be ok most everywhere else.

I don't think this is an elite team, but I'm not sure it isn't.

And, I think they think they are.....
