Put yourself in the shoes of HC, GM, etc... and you too would be trying to hold onto your job as long as possible. For the fans, you like the idea of swinging for the fences every time. The team wins 3 games? meh... so what? you get the excitement of picking early in the draft to swing again! you get to turn off the games after the 1st quarter and jump in the swimming pool. Because by 26 there ready to start . itd be a wise move and it's why the packers has always had a qb . They kept finding a qb . theyve arguably found the greatest bunch ever . brunell hasselback warner brooks farve rodgers and maybe hundley . (more likely 3 tops) Agreed, the Bruce Allen/Kevin Schaefer contracts usually have a 2 or 3 year out or the guaranteed money is paid for by then and we can release said player and save cap space. Skin fans are happy wiht 10-6 for a few years until we land a great qb. Smith is a stop gap qb that wont make us suck but wont make is great. We certainly won't be able to release him next year because next is the first year of his contract extension (remember, this year he's playing on the last year of his previous contract he got in Kansas City). They haven’t had consistency at qb or HC since they let them both go. It looks like they’ll have it with Shanahan and Garappollo but it remains to be seen. Chiefs. 2013=11-5 2014=9-7 2015=11-5 2016=12-4 2017=10-6 Only once, did he not win dbl digits during the season during his tenure there. The Redskins are the only team in 26 yrs, to not win 11 games during a season. If you want that to change, would you believe Cousins will finally accomplish this as our QB under a long term deal eventually? Or do you think maybe, just MAYBE...it wasn't all Andy Reid, other staff & player personnel that was the only reason they were good? Look, if you want to be pissed because we traded Fuller? Have at it! If you want to be pissed because we traded a 3rd round draft choice away? I can certainly understand. They're important team building resources. But if you're pissed because your certain Cousins is better, than Smith? You might want to wait after 1 season with Smith, before jumping off a high rise... Because you may be wrong...
