John Dorsey is so annoying: "As we sit here today, we have actually turned the roster over 59 percent from last year's roster. That does not happen unless you have a plan," Browns general manager John Dorsey said.

So on and so forth. Thanks for putting the research into the exact roster turnover after waiving our final guys. This guy is a goob.

I thought that Nassib and Orchard were our 3rd and 4th best DEs respectively this preseason so I'd say it's a mistake to let both of them go.  Egostical move by Dorsey not admitting that Chris Smith and Chad Thomas are terrible.

There's no real evidence that Chad Thomas is terrible as he's been hurt all camp recovering from hernia surgery... he hasn't practiced much...

He had limited snaps at both DT and DE positions and played uneven.... some really good.. some really bad... if they think he's still a longterm quality player when they drafted him than it doesn't make sense to cut him just b/c he hasn't been available via injury.

Now... Chris Smith on the other hand?? I agree as I haven't seen anything out of him this preseason... he's gotten pushed around and his supposed versatility to play inside has been exposed....

They should've definitely kept Nassib over Chris Smith... maybe Smith got the edge due to veteran leadership stuff or ... I just don't know....

He got an edge because John Dorsey signed him and doesn't wanna punt on that decision.  Maybe Chad Thomas will turn out, but he's realistically too far behind to contribute this year.  I get cutting 1 of Orchard/Nassib to keep Thomas.  Letting go both leaves us terribly thin at DE, and we are already thin at DT.  D-line tends to get injured and need to rotate a lot too.  Im guessing a lot of his decisions on that front are going to look stupid mid-season.

Yeah .... looks like if we cut Chris Smith it would've been a huge $4.6 Million Dead Cap Hit... that's rather large for a lower level offseason signing... it probably a little bit of a cap thing, not wanting to admit to being wrong, and that Smith's a vet with inside and outside versatility.

-----------------------------------

You're right in that Chad Thomas doesn't likely contribute this year b/c he's too far behind.

One thing is: The FO must think Odenigbo is better than Chris Smith, Nassib, and Orchard. So, he'll be the first DE off the bench.

Also, Genard Avery will likely play 2 downs out of 3 at DE/OLB as long as he stays healthy... so he and Odenigbo will be the depth players...

That leaves us with Chad Thomas and Chris Smith as the 3rd and 4th off the bench.... Chad Thomas has powerful hands and surprisingly can take the edge with good technique as an edge rusher... it may take him 5 weeks or so to get back up to speed conditioning and mental rep-wise, but he may contribute down the line as a edge rusher or 3-Tech...

Dorsey probably feels good about our edge depth and versatility.. we'll see how it shakes out...

LOL. Why did we sign Smith in the first place? Nassib is far from anything special, but he's still a decent rotational lineman and has looked better than Smith. Also disappointed to see us cut McKinnon, as I was pretty impressed with him this preseason.

Meder isn’t better than anyone. I’d rather give anyone else a chance.

Ya but the only DLs that’s are returning are the ones starting. How do we expect these guys to come in and just flow right into the rotation Ifedi has me excited. Chad Thomas as a Rotational UT has me excited. Carl Davis has underachieved. everyone else is a joke. Meder knew the team, Knew the Playbook, he played with grit and passion. He might not have been the best but he was a fine Backup. Honestly we should probably sign Hankins if we do anything. I don’t like keeping Rice over McKinnon. I don’t like how depleted are LB core looks. Honestly btwn the OL, DL, and LB groups. We’re One injury and it doesn’t look good. Avery’s down right now. Burgess looks like a solid backup. And unless we plan on Peppers playing WLB if one goes down idk how you feel comfortable going into the season with the way the team looks. Are OL depth looks terrifying. Harrison looks like a promising young stud but he needs a year or two. Idk but I felt better about some of the guys we let go. If we were going to make this many changes we should have done it earlier

Not looking good for Matt Dayes to join the practice squad... as RB Dontrell Hilliard has been announced as on the PS...

Dayes may have received a better offer else and declined... or we'll find out his injury is worse than we thought...

Tough loss as he's a quality player...

if the injury was worse. He could have been IR'd and kept
