Hopefully the tax proceeds from 2 are put to good use.....like the lottery was supposed to help public schools200w.gif?cid=6c09b9524s4q8vns4zsjye18p9q

We should allocate it to the unicorn fund while we are wishing for things. Let’s dream a little more realistic here.

Little copy pasta of what it’s gonna spent on:

Issue 2 creates five funds in the state treasury: the adult use tax fund, the cannabis social equity and jobs fund, the host community cannabis fund, the substance abuse and addiction fund, and the division of cannabis control and tax commissioner fund

Also, I’m not sure why it’s being presented as though the lottery hasn’t provided money to school.

tldr is it’s over 31 billion (now, that’s an older article) since 1974.

Sure seems like that’s a useful amount to me…

Because the funding model caps some schools while dumping into others or allocating funds to technology or buildings instead of personnel. You have empty classrooms full of thousands of technology boxes unwrapped because you don’t have teachers to implement it.

Or you continue to throw money into terrible districts while capping others.

Use of the funds is a separate discussion entirely, but the lottery has supported public schools.  That’s not even debatable.

If people are unhappy about how schools are funded they should open their wallets and pass levies instead of hoping sin taxes fix all of their problems iyam.

I don’t disagree, but Ohio and the way they find schools is literally illegal per the Supreme Court and should operate the way states like Indians and PA.

Don’t they use the lottery money as the funding and not adding to the school funding?

Yes, it’s (in part) how they fund education.

Like that 34 billion is great but that means they could have used 68 billion in that time instead they used 34 billion

sure, but the issue isn’t the lottery and their contributions, it’s the fact that education is otherwise underfunded.
